Oxycodone Prescriber Knoxville, Tn Area
UpdatedSurely there is a physician that understands Pain "Management" in the area. It is not just providing scripts, U/A's and treating patients like they are criminals. I have been a chronic pain patient off and on for over 20 years. I have voluntarily quit using opiates on several occasions. I remained opiate free each time until the pain really started interfering with the quality of life. I made it over 2 years on 1 occasion. I would like to find a physician that practices true pain management. I am 66 and have little, if any, respect for the fresh-faced PA's who sit behind their desks and threaten to kick you out because a pill count is 2 or 3 short. Sorry, I was in excruciating pain. It's not like I am overdosing especially since their policy is 10mg is all they write. That is not pain management. It is profit-based while covering ass. I would appreciate any info on legitimate providers in the area. Thanks

I can comiserate with you ... I too have serious need for serious pain relief, having endured 2 separate falls : one including 3 veterbral fractures, and theh other causing 5 contiguous rib fractures...
My 'non-attending attending physician refused treating my rib pain for that injury ... an injury normally indicating 'Intensive Care' (which I refused, not wanting a 'hospital-acquired infection' ... He told me: " I only prescribe narcotics for patients dying of cancer" ... (which I found later to be untrue ! )
Irony ? Ya wanna read 'Irony' ?? I am a retired physician, 70 yrs old ... otherwise healthy .... And my practice specialty : ya : ANESTHESIA !!! I had dedicated my professional life to managing the pain, comfort, and very serious risks of such a practice. Never did he even ask me 'how's the best way to write for narcotics??' or anyother similar topic !!! That ignorant fool calling himself a physician is exemplary of what's happened in the world of medicine !
I'm now disgusted with the field of medicine: " Do No Harm " (historically our 'flagship mantra) has become: ' Cover Your You-know-what ' !!!! There ARE ways to administer narcotics with minimal risks to 'addiction' !!
(When I say " I feel your pain ! ' , I really MEAN it !!! )
I'm sorry for your experiences in this issue : You , and I , and millions of other legitimate-pain-patients' are being harmed (if not killed!) by this transformation of medical practice to be 'government approved' , with little concern for our plights ...
Re: Tkj (# 1)
I was responding to some ***** on another website who suggested the heads of drug stores that fill opiate scripts should be jailed. I did some research and found a 2015 study that found twice as many chronic pain patients commit suicide. Wonder why? DUH
Re: Tkj (# 1)
Regardless of your experience, as a former medical professional, you should view a documentary on Netflix called "Dirty Money", the episode regarding Valeant, Michael Pearson, CEO, an extremely wealthy con man who touts his ability to acquire failing pharm companies and then raise the price of them by as much as 400%!! Epipen is one such example. There is also a life saving drug for people with Wilson's disease, which is rare, but their lives DEPEND on a drug that cost $289,00/year! I spoke with a physician from Johns Hopkins who is losing patients to bankruptcy, not their disease. Pharm companies seem to be exempt from Anti trust or fraud with their powerful lobbying techniques. After much investigation and a hearing, Valeant walked away, promising to reduce their prices, but not one price has dropped! If you'll excuse me, sir, WTF!! When is someone going to step up?
