Oxycodone Plus Something For Fever? (Top voted first)
UpdatedHello! I haven't asked one of my stupid questions in awhile so I have one for you. I'm on a daily schedule of 5-5-5-10-10 Oxycodone. I've had a low fever for a week or two for unknown reason, and would like to take Acetaminophen but read that it increases the effects of Oxycodone. I don't want to take anything dangerous, so what exactly would be a safe medicine to take? Thanks for any suggestions, as I trust you for this advice.

Hello, Mimi! How are you?
Yes, Acetaminophen can augment the effect of Oxycodone in some people that take it, so you should always check with your doctor, before adding it. However, the same is true of all relevant medications that treat fever, so you need to ask your doctor which is safest for you.
However, the increase is usually not that significant and shouldn't be anything to worry about, unless your doctor feels otherwise. It could make your 10mg dose affect you as if you'd taken 12 or 15mgs.
The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Thank you so very much. You always come through for me -:)
