Oxycodone Breathing Problems

I am taking oxycodone rho 30 mg for severe back and leg and foot pain. I've been reading about rho and do not like what I am seeing. The pain clinic I go to changed the manufacturer a few months ago and I want to go to a different manufacturer. Do you think the clinic will honor a request to change? They are causing me to have breathing problems. Advice please. Thanks

Hello, Edward! How are you?

The prescribing doctor cannot dictate which generic you receive from your pharmacy. The only thing they can do, if necessary, is write the prescription as 'brand medically necessary', or whatever the equivalent is in your state.

Even if the clinic has an in-house pharmacy, like my primary care doctor does, the doctor still doesn't control which generic they fill your prescription with. It is all dependent on which one was being offered at the cheapest price, at the time they needed to restock their supply.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

As to the breathing problems, you may need to stop taking Oxycodone and switch to something else. That can be a side effect of them and it could become dangerous. It would be best to inform them of the problem, so it can be checked out.

Is there anything else I can help with?
