Oxycodone Being Replaced With Oxycontin (Page 2)

I was on oxycodone, 40 mg. and live in N.J.. The pharmacy's are telling me that as soon as they run out of it , it will only be available in oxycontin, has anyone else come accross this issue, it happened last month, 7-08.?
As an AZ resident for 30 + yrs. I noticed some of these posts are from 08 or 09 now it's 2011 and I'm still getting my Oxycodone 30mg (not Oxycontin with the new little beads so they can't be abused, just the regular Oxy with no Tylenol) but I'm still getting the generics. So I don't know what happened back there totally, but do have a very close friend who is taking the same thing, in Indiana, and they are the generics as well. Mine are specifically from Mallinkrodt. I have state ins. and they are 100% covered. The Oxycodones never changed but YES, the Oxycontins did. They changed their ingredients (non-active) by adding the uncrushable beads, but the Ins. part I'm not sure of. I'm pretty sure my friends still get theirs paid for. But NOT positive. Can find out if someone needs to know FOR SURE. Hope this helps.
I was told by several pharmacists in Arizona that the reasoning behind the generic oxys being pulled and the Brand name being the only one available now is because the Brand name company sued for several more years of being able to sell the Brand (gives them more money... though the peeps who NEED them generally aren't working and will not be able to buy them... we'll have to switch to something we CAN get in generics... like Morphine Sulphate ER... doubt they're going to make much more money this way...)
The main Ingredient in Oxycodone(percocet) is Oxycotin, without the tylonol, so less damage to the liver, but more chances for addiction. Hope That helps
No do not take that advice. Ya methadone may help u lean off of the oxycodone, however its a very risky way of detox because if you get hooked on methadone it will be almost impossible for you to kick the habbit. What happens is that the methadone stays in your system for a long time. The withdrawals from the methodone usually is a month long as opposed to oxycodone which withdrawals last for up to a week at the most.
Well you are better off asking your doctor to prescribe you Oxycontin only if you make less than $21,000 a year. You can get them straight from Purdue Pharma which is the manufacture of Oxycontin for $25 a month i get 60 80mgs a month through patient assistance from them. But you have to make $21,000 or less a year other wise your screwed. You just have to get the phone number off the internet straight from Purdue Pharma and they will fax a form to your doctor and then you fill it out and send it in with your script and if you get approved, you are approved for 1 year. and after the first month you just get your script send it yourself with 25 bucks and you will have your meds in like 4 days its great. But i cant say not making any money is better either but i save my self $800 a month this way
It has nothing to do with losing their business to others or a lawsuit, it has to do with the rampant abuse. If only one company is manufacturing Oxycontin, then it is easier to regulate it and keep track of, to prevent diversion, theft and abuse.
hEY PEOPLE THEIR IS METHADONE 120 CT FOR ABOUT 25.00 IN hj , iTAKE IT 4TIMES A DAY AND IS VERY CHEAP AND GOOD FORALL pAIN!
Figure this out , soon ,no more oxycodone , but we will sell you oxycontin, same thing , ha ha , but medicare will pay for 120 10 mg. methadon w/ Pre. of course . 1 10mg 4x a day for 1.00 and 100 mg. of morphine sulphate 90 ct. for another 4,00 thats right , you can get these PRE. for 5 bucks and medicare picks up the rest . This is cheaper than 75.00 for 60 ct of oxycon. and perc., 10 mg. w /prior approval and more $$$$, now the choice 5.00 or 123.00 PLUS whatever dance your on.O by the way oxyfast 20 mg. are still avail for 4.00 if your doc will write it!
Yes, I have heard the same thing. I live in NJ. It was because of a lawsuit. The brand name company doesnt want to keep losing their business to the manufacturer of the generic. I have been on oxycodone for 5 years. I am currently without insurance and had to pay 100% of the generic. It cost 424.00 for a one month supply. My pharmacist advised it will be over 800.00 as soon as they stop making the generics which is supposed to be in a couple of months. Best of luck to you.
That is exactly correct. Due to rampant abuse and theft, the time released Oxycodone is no longer available for generic production, only the name brand will be available.
yes,i also take the same thing, and i was also told the same thing.I live in Tennessee.
