Oxycodone Without Tylenol

I have Hep-C and am taking oxycodone-acetaminophen for severe knee pain. Meanwhile, my liver is getting worse. My "doctor" a P.A. says there is no oxycodone without acetaminophen. My hematologist says there is...and that I should be on it. Who's correct here and what should I do?

I have been on oxycodone 10-325 for a few years i lost my insurance recently and found out it is cheaper without Tylenol so my doctor prescribed it to me. Its a little pink pill. Oxy 10mg.
Re: Verwon (# 1)
There is oxcydo. New med. just ercocet 7.5. Because i was getting to much tylynol in the othe with tylenol. Hope this helps. My co ay is 50.00. But pharmacy has coupons for only 15 dollar co pay
Not sure what other countries' quide lines are for narc pain meds, but I do know for a fact (in USA) from numerous M.Ds, etc. and pharmacists that Oxycontin extended release, which is only available in BRAND form, has no Tylenol (acetaminophen) in it. BTW, Oxycontin, (not codone) was available in generic form at one time which made it much more affordable. There's some crazy legal suit going on I don't really know much about honestly. It's very important tho for patients with liver and stomach problems especially to check, double check, and ALWAYS ask your pharmacist if your narcotic pain medicine has ANY amount of Tylenol or other additional garbage in it.
I have had high liver enzymes on several blood tests and then an ultrasound that said I have NAFLD (non--alcoholic fatty liver disease with a dilated common bile duct (no stones/no tumor).
I now take Milk Thistle and NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine which is used in ERs for Tylenol poisoning). Since starting and continuing to take these two supplements (OTC), my liver enzymes now have remained in the normal range for about 18 months now.
Try them; there is no problem with them (you can always search on Google about both to find more detailed info).
Good luck!!!!
I am taking oxycodone15 mg tablets prescribed to me and there is no anacetaphetamin in it. The medication is easier on the liver because the medicine is without the extra pain medication.
It works only my insurance won't pay for the long acting extended release. It would be nice to sleep through the night without waking from DDD or spine injury and arthritis. I take supplements and because of the carbon levels in my blood I am not a good candidate for anymore steroid shots or surgery to repair what the osteoarthritis has done to my hips and knees.
I am using a moterized wheelchair to get around.
PAs are quite intelligent. They may be unwilling to talk about a straight oxycodone brand. Fearful of addiction? Addictive qualities to patient?
Oxycontin is an extended release form of only oxycodone and instant release varies from country to country like roxicodone, endone, oxynorm etc.definetly go see a doc that knows about pain manangement.a GP should know this stuff for christ sakes.maybe you are being told by your doc that there is no oxycodone without acetaminophen because of the way the hep c was contracted....in order to prevent abuse potential...but hey either way if you need analgesics to get by from your knee pain as I do then you should be able to get a form that isn't going to screw with your liver.blood tests etc can be given in order to monitor blood levels and such so however you contracted hep c that shouldn't be a reason not to get proper treatment..best of luck KP
There certain is Oxycodone available without Acetaminophen, it is sold under the brand names Roxicodone, which is a regular release formulation and an instant release one called OxyIR, both of which are also available as generics.
Learn more Roxicodone details here.
If you're just seeing the PA, that may be the issue, as they do not have as much knowledge as doctors. I'd suggest you ask to see an actual doctor to discuss the issue.
Is tehre anything else I can help with?
