Oxycodone Prescriber
UpdatedHello, I just found this forum. First off... I live in eastern kentucky and am wondering if anyone could give me some advice. My doctor just suddenly passed away and has left all of his patients with no way to get their prescriptions. It was a private practice with no other doctors working with him, just a NP to assist. I've been on the same medication ... same dose same amount for years with no issues as far as drug panels or anything. I've undergone multiple procedures and surgeries as well. I am a legit chronic pain patient with multiple health problems and I need a new doctor. I went to 1 doctor whose PA saw me, he didn't assess me, refused my medical records, cut my medication dosage to way less than even half of what Ive been on for years. He told me the doctor had already planned my "treatment plan" prior to my appointment. How can a doctor do that without any records or assessing me? My family doctor gave me more than this pain management doctor did! Family doctor is helping me temporarily until I can find a new pain management doctor, but she is still giving me just a little over half of my original prescription. There are so many doctors in Kentucky, how do you choose? How do you know who will prescribe and who wont. I don't mind the procedures, actually I want them, they help, but I need my meds in conjunction with them. Does anyone know of a good pain management doctor in Kentucky? I live in eastern Kentucky so I could even travel to southern ohio or western side of west Virginia (such as Huntington). I live in a very small town that is in the middle of all the larger cities, which is where I was going, so I could go in either direction, I just need to find a doctor soon. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing if any doctor will or will not prescribe anything.
Additionally, in most instances, they are supposed to cut patients down to the equivalent of only 120mgs of Morphine a day and some states have limited that even further to just the equivalent of 100mgs. That might be why all the doctors have cut the amount you're prescribed, since you didn't mention the dosage you were on and any other details about it.
The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Due to the directives set forth by the DEA last year, you'll most likely need to stay within your home state, most doctors won't prescribe those who live in a different state, nor will most pharmacies fill such prescriptions, if one does.
Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?
I was on oxycodone 30mg 5 times per day. How much ocycodone would equal that amount of morphine? I didn't know that there is a limit or anything and I have no clue how to know that type of conversion. That's the only narcotic I'm on. I was told I was the lowest dose of all his patients. Thank u for ur response.
30mg 5x a day is way to much OxyContin. I have severe RA Lupus and fibromyalgia and I only get 4 10mg a day I think with these new laws in your home state all doctors are directed to cut back on them.
