Oxycodone/percocet Generics! Which Are Most Effective? (Page 7) (Top voted first)
UpdatedHello, First, let me start by saying that I am somewhat opiate naive. I am not in pain management and hopefully won't need to be. I've had scripts here and there for norco and percocet. It is the generic percocet, or more specifically the oxycodone, i'd like to discuss here. Over the past year i've had issues (such as a broken elbow, recurring kidney stones, and a staghorn lodged in my renal pelvis [kidney]), that have lead to several prescriptions for percocet from a total of 4 different manufacturers. Mallinckrodt 10/325, Amneal 7/325, Rhodes Pharmacy 10/325, and AuroBindo 10/325. I've read a lot of reviews about the aforementioned generic manufacturers. The majority of them have been negative especially for Rhodes. Mallinckrodt and AuroBindo are the only two that seem to have, at least, a couple of favourable reviews. I've got a new script for a week's supply of percocet 10/325. The primary pharmacy that I go to is Kroger (my local CVS carry Rhodes). Kroger carries the U17 Aurobindo which seem to help with pain but cause other issues; tinnitus, anxiety, drowsiness, agitation and at times nausea. Those are things I can deal with but I'd rather not. Does anyone have any input on what they find to be the best generic manufacturer of oxycodone? I've read about endocet, actavis, watson, kvk, and others but none of them seem to be readily available in my area. These are what i've tried in order from best to worst: 1. Mallinckrodt - good pain relief, seemingly no side effects, mild euphoria. (Unfortunately I cannot find Mallinckrodt anywhere around my area.) 2. (tie) Amneal/Aurobindo - Kind of a toss up between these two. They seem to work for the pain but have noticeable side effects. Auro (effects listed above) and Amneal both seem to cause anxiety/panic. Profuse sweating and itching have also been experienced with Amneal although not with Auro. 3. Rhodes Pharmaceuticals - I've read some horrible reviews for these. While I don't think they're as bad as some of the reviews, they were definitely very weak compared to the others i've tried. Sort of hit and miss though as one pill would make me feel high and another would make me feel sick (while not doing much for the pain). A plethora of side effects with these as well with malaise and dysphoria; the ultimate worst! Okay now that you've heard my subjective opinion and rant, can anyone out there offer their opinion on these generic oxycodone/percocet manufacturers. Are there any generic brands I'm missing or never heard of? What's the most effective for killing pain with the least side effects? (I'm taking them for pain). P.S. I'm going to have to fill at Kroger and get the Auro U17 regardless but would like to know for future reference. Thanks in advance! I'm in the Indianapolis, Indiana area.
What about Hydrocodone generic for vicodin? I think it has the least side effects except the fillers must bother me with an allergic reaction of itching me all over! Why can't something be done about this? I know of other people it happens to!
Re: Mason (# 8)
Reason being they all have been on the mild side for a couple months now. Normally they should help. Good luck.

I agree with you!! Ive been trying to get this out to people too!! Generics are NOT effective!! They are filled with more inactive nasty fillers and MUCH LESS of the ingredient that makes it effective!! Im sick of what is happening to the medicine that is supposed to help us!! Ive had so many negative reactions to generics!! Itching, upset stomach, headaches, panic attacks flu-like feeling. There is a war on people with chronic pain because of the people who are abusing opiates!! Why should I suffer because of other people who cant control their actions!! Innocent people suffer because of the ones who abuse. Do the homework!! Check medical histories of people before you through them together with abusers!! There are a lot of us who take medicine responsibly!! Something needs to be done about the lousy quality of medicine being sold to us!! We need a loud voice who will help stop this nastiness of selling us poor quality medicines!!

I’ve always thought that the A.M.A., or whomever, would be absolutely sure that, for example, if you get any generic drug it would be mandatory that the exact amount of the active ingredient should be in all generics... I know people that take Diazepam & they insist that the “Roach Brand” is better than all of the many generics that are out there... Maybe it’s all in their heads like the Placebo effect... I don’t know, & how did you determine that there’s less of the active ingredient in the generics, are you a Chemist & tested these drugs you’re referring to!? Please explain ‘cause you can’t go by what someone or even many people tell you...You should have Hard evidence not just hearsay!
I would advise getting a copy of your medical records from your pain clinic ..... i m going out of town so i asked for my records ...... i went back 6-7 months ,,,1 visit every 28 days ..... i cant even tell you how many mistakes i found from not so drastic as family member ailments that i have no idea where that info came from ????? To very serious lack of entering current symptoms ...... IMO THATS INEXCUSABLE SCREW-UP .......... how can dr make a good dicission without proper information ........i better stop here just get your records & make sure they are filled out properly
All the ones you mentioned are terrible!! It took me a year of suffering with horrible side effects until I tried Endocet. No side effects and good pain relief. I’m on the 7.5/325 right now but will try the 10/325 down the road. Amneal has by far the most complaints with the FDA. Do your research (I’ve been researching for the last year after being given Amneal). I never realized that there was such a huge difference in generics before my bad experience. Horrible pain in my upper stomach for the full 30 days I was stuck with them and NO pain relief. This is true for ALL genetics, not just opiods. Most drugs nowdays are being manufactured in India and China. Who knows what they use for fillers!! Could be plastic. I WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY DRUGS THAT ARE MANUFACTURED IN THOSE COUNTRIES. Like I said ~ do your research. It’s time consuming but worth it.
I'm reading these comparisons in a new light tonight. Percocet at one time was very effective. There were no generic drugs. Just brand name. They were used for post surgery and most severe pain caused by accidental injuries. The DEA.... is responsible for the reformulated oxycodone to stop drug liking. High doses weren't needed before this whole darn mess with abuse. If oxycodone was returned to it's original formulation you and many other people would not be suffering. This may not be a popular version of why they don't work but it's nothing but the truth!
Re: David (# 7)

Re: Sparky (# 11)
Order kratom and capsule it. It actually works.
I'm now on 30mg oxycodone by Mallinckrodt manufacturer that make me very sick. Can anyone suggest a different manufacturer that is better?
Re: Mason (# 1)

Re: Mason (# 6)

The doctor prescribed me oxycodone HCL‘s 10 mg which help me now they gave me oxycodone 10 mg HRHO‘s they don’t work why
Re: Herb (# 37)
He is 1000% correct!! Generics are allowed a 20% difference and still pass. The 20% isn't likely to be higher than the brand but if so, still passes.
Take our word, that is the LAW!! 20% difference is exactly correct story!!
Re: Sam (# 9)
Amneal works for me can't can't find it at a Kroger they are rude and says they only get what the warehouse sends I have e Rhodes really tears up my gut Where can I find Amneal it works much better less side effects
Percocet = Oxycodone + acetaminophen...
Whether you get the brand name (Percocet) or a generic, You’re still getting the same amount of the Narcotic, Oxycodone...So, in My opinion, they’re all the same thing...Brand or Generic.!.!.!
Hello, hipe my advice will help you and that your Dr will fill a script for for lorcet, 10/650, I have major back problems from drag racing cars and motorcycles because I've been an auto mechanic for 40 yrs and now I also was hit and run over by a JB Hunt tractor trailer while riding a bicycle and crushed my lower right leg so bad I thought for about 3 yrs I would have to have it amputated cuz the pain was so unbearable but I did a lot of research on pain meds to help me cope with my every day life and owning my own auto repair business was taken its toll on me so my Dr told me to try the lorcet which is also available in generic or brand almost every where but I had it filled and I couldn't believe how much easier it was to work my daily job with no side effects of any kind except the one time I took one in the morning on an empty stomach but you can suggest that or the 5/325 to start and see how you feel with the lower dose 1st, hope that'll help your pain, believe me, I live with it every day...
Re: nomas (# 54)
You know all 10mg Percocets & generics have 10mg Of oxycodone & 325mgs of acetaminophen or Tylenol...I think when you get the cheaper generic it has different inert fillers & that may be why you are having bad side effects...What you need is pure oxycodone without the Tylenol, commonly referred to as oxycontin...it’s a pure opioid without all the Tylenol and other fillers...Ask your Dr about OxyContin...Good Luck.!.!.!
Re: Mason (# 31)
You say the FDA allows a 20% difference in the amount of Opiate contained in the pill, plus, if it’s a Percocet, 500 mg of acetaminophen!? I would think if it said “10mg Perc.” Any maker of a generic would have to have the same amount of Opiate...I would agree that the inactive ingredient or “Filler” could be different, but Not the Opiate amount!
Re: JMJ (# 56)
I would think that if you’re getting generic Oxycodone the Drug & Poison Center would require all generics to have exactly the same amount of Opioid...I think it would be unlawful to say a pill has 10mgs of whatever if it doesn’t...I know a lot of “Drugy’s & a lot of ‘em say that Benzo’s, Valium, Xanax, Klonopin, etc, etc. also are different depending on what Co. made the generic...People “Swear” that Roach, who had the original patent on Diazepam & named it Valium, say that the ones with the V cut in the middle are the best, & they’re talkin’ about Valium, Roach brand Diazepam...I’m no expert, just know what I know growin’ up in the ‘70’s...I’m 68 & take a Valium now & then, but they all affect me the same way...I think 50% of the affect is in people’s minds...That’s why Drs still prescribe placebos & the patient still gets the affects of whatever drug they think they’re taking not knowing it’s a sugar pill...I think we should all do a bit more research...Keep in touch...
