Oxycodone/michigan/doctors?/guidelines
UpdatedI'm a cronic pain patient going on 10 Years. I have had multiple surgeries on my lower back. I have been prescribed Oxycodone 30mgs up to as many as #240 a month -As low as #90 a month depending on which Dr. I was seeing at the time. This has been extended over a 5 yr period. I do not misuse, sell, give or abuse my medication In any way. I work a very labor intensive job with heavy machinery daily and have found other drugs such as: fentynal duragesic patches, morphine, dilaudid, methadone and Opana to greatly reduce awareness and complicate an already complicated job due to side effects. Now, I'm on Morphine #120 mgs a day.. both immediate and long acting release.. and can't function due to drowsiness and a "head in the clouds " type of feeling. At work, I have noticed I'm slower with my reactions in dangerous situations and just too damn tired to run my business safely and successfully. My doctor (new) seems more worried about these new Oxycontin guidelines and his own ass than my overall safety and well-being. Throughout the years my doctors and I have tried every pain medication... weighted their pros and cons and eventually came to the conclusion Oxycontin is the most safe and Cost effective medication for my individual situation. Which these doctors seem to forget that we shouldn't all be evaluated and judged as "patients"..but instead on our individual needs and problems. There is not a doctor I have come across in almost a year that has honestly cared about his ppatients instead of himself. Their all scared to write oxycontin now and don't seem to care about our quality of life or pain management concerns.
Can anyone recommend a doctor in the Macomb County, Michigan area that still cares about their patients needs and isn't afraid to write Oxycontin prescriptions if needed and agreed upon? I have seen a few doctors recently and was disheartened by their lack of overall caring and helping patients anymore. Any help given is appreciated.

Hello, Chris! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having, it's a shame that anyone has to suffer.
However, I'm not sure that you're completely aware of the repercussions that a doctor could face, if they were found to be improperly prescribing controlled substances now, it goes far beyond just getting a warning.
They can actually lose their license to practice medicine and could end up with jail time! Most doctors have far too much invested in their careers to be willing to take rash risks.
I really wish I had some good news I could give you, or some great solution, but there just isn't one. Everyone suffering from chronic pain is in the same situation, now.
Does anyone know of a good doctor in that area that can help?
