Oxycodone Dentist
UpdatedWhy do they recommend you see a dentist while taking Oxy? What is the negative side effect on your teeth or gums? Is there something you can do on your own without involving a dentist? Thanks

Oxycodone, being a narcotic opiate, can cause severe dry mouth, which allows bacteria that your saliva would normally wash away to remain on the teeth and promote much faster plaque and decay than normal.
Additionally, narcotics tend to leech minerals out of your body, one of which is calcium, so your teeth can become weaker.
Thus, when you are taking them for a long period of time, you should see your dentist regularly, so they can head off any problems early.
