Oxycodone 15 Mg. Manufactures

For 7 yrs. I have been prescribed 15 mg.Oxycodone I.R.
And the pharmacy has always been consistent with Activis Brand : 15 on 1 side / A214 on the other.
My pharmacy has switched to Mallincrodt with the markings of M on 1 side / 15 on the other side.
Does anybody have input as to which they believe to be better / worse ? Just curious as do have a good tolerance and have Never Abused ! The new brand being Mallincrodt seem to have made me itchy and I have the ' Runs ' . If there is anyone who has taken both of these brands themselves and has and opinion as to which they believe to be better / stronger your input would be greatly appreciated. This Mallincrodt brand just seems to me that it may have less fillers / binders than the Activis Brand. Thanks..

Hello Lindy,

It is actually quite common that one brand will work better for you than another. This is because the brands often contain different inactive ingredients and this can cause the active ingredient to absorb slower/faster and at different intervals. Some pills will be coated with a slow release while others will simply dissolve immediately and "hit" immediately.

Here is some information that you can use to compare the two. You will notice that they have very different inactive ingredients.

If you feel that the current brand of medication is not working for you, please consult your doctor and pharmacist and see if they will work with you to order the brand you were using before. Sometimes these brand changes are unavoidable due to availability while other times they have a choice.

Thankyou so very much. Yes I knew that you could get 'formularies' for all generic and brand medicines but had not know where. Yes..as I am looking over both formularies now and there is quite a difference ! I spoke with the Lead Pharmacist at Walgreens where I have had All my medicine filled for years and he was very accommodating and willing to special order Activis generic solely for me in the event I am still having problems adjusting to Malincrodt generic. In Tennessee here where i live any questions pertaining to narcotic medicine is a very touchy subject . But as I stated I have been in Pain Management for over 10 yrs. and my medicine absolutely does afford me my quality of life which even with is a daily struggle. Urines and counts are a monthly necessity and I myself have a 'golden' running for 10 yrs.now. Solely for anyone else who may be reading this post and is having the same issues I will give my follow-up opinion. I will Definately be asking for special order of the Activis generic. I am 3 days ' in ' and still have that ' heady ' feeling , some itching and i am starting to get occasional headaches throughout the day now. All 3 of these side affects are Definately related to the Mallincrodt brand . I have Never had these side affects while taking Activis.
