They are the same medication, just manufactured by different companies. In this case, the one with the A 48 marking is manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals and they list it as being in a regular release formulation.
As to your dosing schedule, you should follow your doctor's prescribing instructions as it can vary from person to person, anywhere from 6 to 8 hours.
The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
