Oxycodone 10/325 Not Working

Hi, I've never looked for help on the internet regarding my medication, but I'm at a loss. I'm a 46-year-old, healthy, strong and fit female. Three years ago I was pushed from the top of a 4-story building, falling 80 feet. Subsequently, I still suffer from severe, chronic back pain. I take Oxycodone 10/325 every 4 to 6 hours to help manage my pain. When I last filled my prescription, 3 days ago, I noted that I am getting zero relief. I never take more than one pill in a four hour period. But that first day I took 4 pills within 6 hours and still didn't have relief. I called the pharmacy to see if the manufacturer had changed and she informed me that it had not. In fact I looked at the pills and they looked identical to the pills I got the month before. I don't think that my pain just increased significantly in the last week. This doesn't make sense to me. I'm not able to get my pain under control and I am taking much more painkillers than I have since first coming home from the hospital. Due to drug regulations, my doctor does not want to prescribe me another bottle because I just picked up a bottle with 180 tablets. He did prescribe me an additional bottle to get me through the week of just Oxycodone 10 mg, no acetaminophen. Has this happened to anybody else? The pills I am taking right now say 10 - 325 mg tablet Rhodes generic for Percocet. One side says RP and the other side says 10 325. It is a round pill. I'll get them filled at Albertson's SAV On. I'm very concerned as to how I am going to manage my pain now since this has never happened to me before. I welcome any advice, comments or help. Thank you.

Nancy, it is completely normal for your body to eventually get used to any given medication, and for it to stop working as well for you. When you hit that point, you usually require a dosage adjustment, or need to switch to a different medication. It takes many years, for some people, but for others it may only take a few weeks.
The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Re: Jason (# 1)
Thank you for your response. I definitely do not want to take any additional medication. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced medication problems. I am trying PT, and also natural remedies as I do not believe prescription meds are the answer. Best of luck to you as well.
It sounds like you have a great relationship with your current Dr. that being said perhaps you could ask him to prescribe you an extended relief medication also. Since he doesn’t want to prescribe an additional prescription of your standard release oxycodone it sounds like you could benefit greatly from the addition of an extended release oxycodone like OxyContin. I take a combination of the RP 10/325 4 times daily and OxyContin once every 12 hours. It has really helped fill the gaps left by the 10/325. Best of luck and I really hope you get something to ease your pain.
