There is a difference in the formulation of the new Oxycontin OP and whenever medications are changed like that, it can cause problems for some people, because medications can affect everyone differently. I am sorry to read that you are suffering, but you really need to calm down and phrase your opinions in a better manner, if you want people to listen to them. Are there any questions or comments? ## Hey I agree with you whole heartedly and really do hope that this new formulation is effective f...
I was researching info on this site in order to have my doctor switch my meds when I see her tomorrow - Wed. I ran across a link that was to a site that would calculate the dosage needed to replace one drug with another. Does anyone have this info and any other info on changing my oxycontin and oxycodone tomorrow. This doctor is a real b...tch and has not increased my meds ever in over two years, so I need to be able to know what she is doing when I ask her to change the meds. The oxycontin does not help so much anymore and the side effects concern me alot. I developed long qt syndrome from 2yrs on methadone so I am real nervous about this new formulation of oxycontin anyway. So needless to say I cant take methadone and morphine makes me ill and fentynal did not work for me but that was...
Can a women become pregnant, if she use to use OxyContin for many years before? I am planning to be clean for a whole year before I become pregnant. But my husband is telling me it can never happen.because of my past drug use. I'm hoping he's wrong. Please give me real medical advice. Thanks ## Honey I was in the hospital from lung cancer and I saw so many women come and go after they had taken oxycotin xanaxx and other drugs .Icouldn't understand why they put them in the hospital and still give them methone everyday.I asked some of them why they were and they said after the baby was born they had to keep the baby in the hospital to detox them if I were you I would be honest with the dr so he would know what to do if something happened to the baby the moms told me that ther ...
what did they do when they reformulated oxycontin.it is said, the only thing was to make it harder to crush.forgive my language, that is the biggest bunch of bulls*** i ever heard.there is as much difference in the two,as in male and female.everyone knows the story about abuse, crushing, snorting etc, etc.my problem is i have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, arthritis, several things wrong with discs in spine.my right foot needs two surgerys and both knees need surgery.when i was on oxycontin i felt close to normal.no it did not take care of all the pain, but at least i could function.now i'm searching for a replacement and there is nothing.first thing you will say is oxycodone.i'm on 30 mg more times than i care to tell.there is no comparison between oxycontin and oxycodone.toatally two d...
I am currently taking oxycontin 40 mg and I going from a private insurance plan to a Humana PPO Medicare advantage plan and they don't cover it. Some of the other option they recommend from humana was Methadone, Hydromorphone, Codeine Sulfate, Fentanyal Patch, Morphine, and oxycodone IR. I know Oxycodone is the same active ingredient oxycontin but I also take Oxycodone 15mg for breakthrough pain. It helps somewhat but it does help enough. My good day after taking the medicine and having my spinal cord stimulation implant device on is a 5 but an avg. day is 7.5. To give you a idea what a five to me is I broke both of my arms with one bone poking through was a 5.5 and that is a good day for me. My doctor is very hard to get him to increase my dose. So maybe one of these other medicati...
Oxycontin 80 mg op, will this new formula deter intravenous usage? ## WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE TWO OXYCONTIN 80MG OC AND OXYCONTIN 80MG OP ## The new Oxycontin OP is made to prevent abuse, it is still time released, like the original, however, even if crushed to try to take it improperly, it retains its time released function. Still causes the same side effects: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. ## I have been hearing about this for a while now, I live in a community where oxy contin abuse is rampant, and people are freaking out wondering how they will keep their habits up, People snort them, so what will happen when these new op's are crushed? if it's crushed up how is the time release still on ? and will you still feel it? how long will the time release ...
I am getting this other generic oxycodone 10 mg, smaller pill and no line , it doesn't seem to work as well, anyone experience or no why and if my state isn't using PMP - can I pay cash and get my refill early - I am going out of town, I will soon have a new insurance and dr. no contracts or anything to break. Thanks. ## Hi Irbo, Because each pill is manufactured by a different company, not only is there going to be a slight variation of inactive ingredients (binders/fillers), but also if the medication is in generic form, it is permitted by the FDA to contain as much as 20% more or less of the actual active ingredient as well. This could mean that a 10mg oxycodone tablet may actually have 8mgs in it. For some people these subtle differences are the equivalent of taking somethin...
Has anyone ever heard of oxycontin helping with bi-polar disorder? I found out by mistake. It controls my manic episodes. Which were the thing most people fear most. I just don't understand why no one seems to know this, or why it isn't used on a regular basis. I know it is addictive, but I am a Whole person for the first time in my life and I have NO rage and no manic episodes. Why is that? ## Oxycontin contains the narcotic Oxycodone as the active ingredient and narcotics are essentially downers, so it may help prevent the manic episodes from occurring for you. However, the reason it isn't used to treat such issues is that it does not do this for everyone that uses it and that addiction possibility. Learn more Oxycontin details here. I am very glad that it's helped you...
Hi, I'm currently prescribed OxyContin 30mg every 8 hours and Dilaudid 4mg every 4 hours PRN for breakthrough and my doctor that I saw is internal medicine and doesn't want to continue these scripts regularly anymore. I know it's hard to find a doctor/PM Clinic that will do med management but these meds are pretty mild (30mg oxycodone released over 12 hours is 2.5mg/hour and Dilaudid 4mg works amazing for pain, hydromorphone for me is a godsend for my back pain. I can literally feel my spine relax and pain dissolve within minutes after taking my Dilaudid. I live downstate about 2 hours away but doctors in my rural area just don't prescribe these meds and we have no pain clinics or pain management for crap. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction as far as
UpdatedI have a hair follicle test to be employed with GM today I have a prescription for oxycontin that was prescribed me may 2013 expires May of 2014 is it possible that they could deny me employment do I tell the drug testing agency that I have this prescription? I have also only taking two or three of them in the last month occasionally for back spasms
UpdatedI just found this tiny green round pill that has a capital P on one side& the other side says 80 I believe. The other side got wet but it is I'm almost 100% positive its either 80 or 40 on the other side. Can u please tell me what medication I have&possibly a picture of the pill u believe I have found? Is it an Oxycottin? Please respond Asap;). ## Hi Kelly, Based on my research, a round green pill marked with a "P" on one side and "80" on the other, is identified as an 80mg OxyContin tablet from Canada. Such a high dose of this medication is generally only prescribed for cases of severe chronic pain. I can't post a picture here, but if you need verification the manufacturer is listed as Pharmascience. You can contact them directly if you'd like. Their...
1. Oxycontin prescribed by pain management doctor is changed to Opana by CVS/Walgreens. The pharmacist claims it's "supposed" to be the same, (well that is subjective). I've taken Oxycontin for 3 years and never had side effects and yet Opana causes me to have Nausea & frequent documented syncope episodes.. 2. CVS/Walgreens now require a non-narcotic in order to fill a prescription for a controlled II substance. The pain management doctor in order to assist patient prescribes automatically to everyone a prescription for Ibuprofen of which I'm allergic to, (N-Saids). The Pharmacist directs me to just not take it. This is unconscionable which from an adult dictionary means not guided or controlled by conscience. From a kids dictionary to break it down further: Un-c...
I have a torn meniscus in both knees. Nothing caused these, no trauma, injury, anything! I have been on oxycontin for 9 years due to failed back surgery and was wondering if this caused the knee problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! ## Hello, Jerry! How are you? No, from what I've found it doesn't seem to cause that type of problem. What has your doctor said about it? Have you taken any other medications? And you do have to understand that even just standing, sitting, bending, flexing your knee is really all trauma that can cause damage. You don't necessarily have to be out mountain climbing. ## Hi Verwon, Thanks for replying! I'm 58 yrs old, so maybe wear and tear could be the culprit. I am also taking Neurontin, 9 yrs. (neuropathy in feet from failed...
How is the medication released. As simple was 6.67 per hour for 12 hours? ## Hi joe, According to a .gov article I found on the absorption of Oxycontin, the tablet itself is considered to be 'biphasic', which means that it is being dispensed in two different phases. The initial release is said to be approx. 40% of the active ingredient; which provides an onset of pain relieving effects within one hour for most patients. At this point, it is followed by a second more controlled release that carries out the remaining duration of effects. Page 1 in the link below offers more specific details on the pharmacokinetics of it: medsafe.govt.nz/profs/datasheet/o/OxyContintab.pdf I hope this helps!
My husband has been violently ill for hours. He got a text from someone asking if he was "good with those p 10s". I asked, but he doesn't admit to taking anything. I'm worried, because this has been going on for 12 hours now. Any ideas what he could have taken?? ## I can't find any pills listed with a P 10 marking on them. However, some people use that as a form of street slang to refer to the new formulation of Oxycontin, because the new markings on them use the letters OP and the 10 would refer to the 10mg dosage. They often refer to the original formulation as C's, because they had an OC on the tablets. If it has lasted around 12 hours or so, that would also make sense, because it is a time released formulation of the narcotic Oxycodone and the new tablets wit...
I see a dr. For chronic pain, she writes me oxycontin 80 mg. 2x a day and just increased oxycodone to 30mg and she is just a reg. Md., I believe shw is going to send me ti a pain clinic cause my meds Aren't working as they did 6 yrs. Ago. I have been ti them 3 xs Before with no help. I live outside if cola.sc any suggestions. .please?,, ## Hello, Just Tina! How are you? I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you're asking. Do you have a problem with being referred to a pain specialist? Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, you need to see one, if you require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry m...
Yes I have been on oxycontin for 6 yrs to an ^ of 80 mg. 2 times a day but was just increased to 30 mg. Every 6 hrs. My dr. May send me to a pain dr. But I have been through pain management 3 times. This is of my own choice as I may be having liw back surgery and a knee replacement. Any suggestions about any withdrawals? My dr. Is an internalist, she prob. Figures she cant and she has worked with changing my med.s several times.. ## Suboxone is what many pain doctors use to get patients off of narcotics, they reduce the dosage slowly. ## Thanks for your in put but I dont know how to get them since she is a md. ## Suboxone is only intended to be used for hard core addiction treatment, not someone that has been just taking medications as prescribed. Once someone starts it, it can actually...

Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, a pain specialist is going to be your only option, if you require such medications on a long-term, ongoing basis. Has she offered to refer to a clinic? If so, that would actually be the quick and easy way to get the help you need. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness,...
I would like to know if these pills come up on a drug test as Oxycontin? Or if any of these I am prescribed for numerous reasons after a accident and several surgerys. Morphine Immediate release 30 mils. Morphine sulfate contin 60 ER mils, Soma 350 mils, Voltarin 50 mils, Valium 10 mils. ## Did this happen to you? If so, it was most likely from the Morphine, most opiates have been known to cause false positives on the less expensive, non-certified tests, for their relatives. Learn more Morphine details here. ## Morphine is a natural opiate and wlll not test you positive foe oxy, oxy is synthetic. No need to worry unless they are testing for synthetic opiates as well. Natural opiates are: codeine, morphine and heroin. The cheap tests will pick these up. The more expensive tests can pick ...
I have a oxy 8- that is round with no imprints on either side. It came in a blister pack professionally labeled and says it was made by Purdue Phamaceuticals and distributed by Rhodes pharmaceuticals. Can ou p;ease tell me what I have ## I came across the same thing today. Where are you from? I think they might be fake I can't find anything about them the NDC number even says they are oxy 30 but there supposed to be 80s. Am from Albuquerque,NM ## Hello, Shannon! How are you? Where were they obtained? All U.S. approved prescription tablets would have markings on them to enable their identification, in case of emergency, that is required by law. If they are from a foreign source, it may be difficult to positively identify them.
