What does HCI mean on OxyContin packet . ## HCL stands for hydrochloride, it just designates the specific chemical salt that the medication is derived from. It's basically all Oxycodone HCL. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

yellow round pill, writing on one side 40, OP on the other side ## round pill 40 on one side and OP on other side and its yellow. is this an oxycontin generic? ## i have the same thing and wtf is it? ## They have reformulated oxycontin to make it less likely to be abused. It is more difficult to chew or crush and can not be injected by abusers. So it is a oxycontin 40 mg that is tamper resistant ## i have the same thing only the substance will not show up in a data base from poison controll and does not give you the high ## do they still make real ocor just the ones that have the op on them? ## OP is the replacement oxycontin. Purdue lab makes them (thats where the P comes from). Purdue started making the OC imprinted oxycontin first. They are the name brands. The OP are REPLACING the O...

I went from 30mg of oxycontin to 20mg of oxycontin to Percocet 10-325 is my doses begin lower ## If your doctor approves, you can cut these tablets to continue lowering your dose, since the Percocet isn't time released. Alternatively, your doctor could also prescribe a lower dose for you. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How long have you been taking it?

took8mg subutex for 6 mos.stopping subutex.will 3 30mg oxycontin relieve the witydrawals ? ## Yes it will help WD that's for sure, but it might just set you on the path of being addicted to oxy. If you are planning on getting off and are already in WD try your hardest to go on because taking the oxy will just start you all over with the withdrawals when you run out of the oxy. ## Thx. I have had minor wd but not till the 4th day. I have heard of paws also. To your concern of getting addicted again, it is so much easier for me to cut oxys than bups. In 6 months of subutex i totally deteriorated, weak, depressed, etc. All side effects. The drug is not right to have such horrendous wd. Thanks

I'm sorry, but a PCP can no longer write such prescriptions, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year. If you require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis for the treatment of chronic pain, you'll have to see a pain management specialist. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential ...

I have a 80 op I want to take it but not loose the medicine or affect. ## Oxycontin OP cannot be crush, chewed or broken down. If someone tries, it basically turns into a gummy goo, that is supposed to only dissolve in stomach acid and retain its time released properties. Side effects remain the same: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Are there any questions? ## I dont know why ppl say's you can shoot them. You cant shoot them. I finally found and am now under the care of a wonderful pain mgmt dr. who is treating a years-long spinal problem. I was recently started at very low dose oxycontin OP/oxycodone for breakthrough. I've had zero relief from the OP, owing, from what i can gather, to the formula change from OC to OP. My doc, following protocol, is prescribing higher doses with every visit, but still no relief. I'm just one of thousands caught as collateral damage in the so-called "war on drugs" net. I take my medication exactly as prescribed, only for (as yet non-existent) pain relief. I had come across some posts on these forums as regards the oxy/coca-cola combo. I'd most probably not try it, but the pain has become overbearing. My doc, though sympathetic, can't do more than proto...

'K. I'll try 2nd report about my personal experience and need for any help to find a Class Action Sit against Purdue and all invoved in the mistreatment of Chronic Pain Patients who have been prescribed the reformulated oxicontin OP. I had a Cervical Fusion in 2002 in another state from where I presently live. Ever since the surgery, I have been in the most horrific pain. (Please bear with me while I explain...) Unfortunately, my surgeon screwed up the C5/C6 Cervical Fusion so bad that, as a result, I am in so much more pain now than prior to the surgery. Excruciating, unbearable, horrific pain. Years later post surgery, I found out that he was the 'kingpin' (what the newspapers and court documents stated) of a ring of doctors that kept patients in their little circle. Patients were unwittingly kept inside this circle of doctors, tossed back and forth like a toy, and then surgeries were performed. Purposefully accumulating all that expense, and then OVER-BILLING the insurance companies was their game... then...

I was fighting cancer and ended up hooked on opiates. I had been taking oxycontin, dilaudid, percocet, hydromorphone, you name it, for years. I needed to keep taking higher and higher doses because i had developed a resistance to the drugs and they stopped working. A few years into my fight i caught a break and my cancer went into remission. I started to recover and most of the bone pain issues began to fade. I didn't need the opiates anymore but I was hooked. I went to the doctor for a cessation plan and he gave me a taper down schedule from long acting oxy to short acting percs then finally tapering to nothing. It was going to be a slow, painful, draw down. I started the plan and quickly came unglued at the seems. I had been fighting a painful cancer for years and now I had to dea...

what is the difference between the two meds ## Hello, Vickie! How are you? Oxycontin is stronger than Morphine by one and a half times. Thus, if you were taking 30mgs of Oxycontin, you'd need 45mgs of Morphine to be equivalent. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

how do I wean myself off of Oxycontin. Have been taking it 20 years ## Hello, Caryl! How are you? Usually, the modern preferred method is to have the patient start skipping doses, while gradually lowering. However, you will need to speak to your doctor for assistance, since this is a time released medication, so you can't cut it into smaller pieces to lower your dose. But your doctor can prescribe lower doses to help. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Does anyone else have any advice to offer?

How different is one 80mg Oxycontin versus one 100mg Morphine? ## Hello, Rose! How are you? Oxycontin is one and a half times stronger than Morphine. Thus, 80mgs of Oxycodone is actually equivalent to 120mgs of Morphine. My PM doc changed my med to oxycontin 15 mg every 12 hour with oxycodone 5 mg every 8 if needed. Not working great. Only gave me 2 week supply with appt.As opposed to the usisland 30 day no appt. At the end of the 2 werks. As he has been resistant to all suggestions including from staff,do you think the 2 weeks is because he might be willing to increase? ## No one can know the mind of your doctor, but it is a possibility. When do you see them, again? The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. It's common to have patients come in more frequently, at first, to work with the dosages to see what gets their pain under control. Is ther...

Almost killed me but afterwards when I took the pain med Oxycontin for the very 1st time I did not feel it till I reached unreal 500mg level. Then it was a miracle. Always felt chemo burned out receptors so only get partial dosage. How can I evaluate this? Anyone ever hear of this? In these times I need huge amounts to work for pain & drs not giving anymore. Need help desperately as the pain has bedridden me again. Chris-FL ## Hello, Chris! How are you? I'm very sorry about the situation you're in.
