I am recovering from an intense spinal surgery and was given an rx for 60 mg oxycontin. I filled it last month at my regular CVS, but they said it was removed from the books, they even called other CVS who checked and said it was removed from their books as well, guessing that CVS doesn't carry it anymore. After checking with 10 different pharmacies, no one has it. One said they haven't had to order that in a long time. I didn't think it was that unusual. But where in the world can I get this filled? Walgreens is not an option as they are not a part of my insurance plan. ## I went to a local low cost pharmacy. They had and could order it. The cost was 600. But because insurance was charged from cvs 1600 a month they would not pay 600. They would only pay 300. I got member se...

My doctor has had me on the same pain medication (OxyContin 40mg) for the past 9 years. He won't increase it, I've asked him every time I see him. His practice is in Massachusetts, if it makes a difference. I know I've developed a tolerance because it doesn't work like it once did. The reformulation doesn't help matters. Anyone else have a problem with their doctor refusing to raise the quantity or dosage? ## If you're asking him every time you see him, then he may be taking that as drug seeking behavior, which could explain his reluctance to increase the dosage. Is this also a family doctor/general practitioner? If so, that also explains a lot, as they aren't trained to treat pain and, with the relevant prescribing laws, they have to be very careful, since t...

I am in too much pain to go driving from pharmacy to pharmacy and I would like to know if someone can help me. I am sick over this still going on in florida. How come nobody has done anything about this yet? This cannot be legal to discriminate. I am not even on that high of a dose of the norco and the other med was ms contin 15 mg only twice a day! I am pretty sure i CANT call them and ask as last time i was told they cannot tell that info by phone. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!...

I have been taking oxycontin oc 80mg er for about 15 yrs , now i cannot find nothing but the op instead and it causes many side effects, stomach swelling , the strnegth is totally different and the price is out rageous, can you find a pharmacist that carries theoc generics so i can have a normal life i feel hopeless much less the price is killing my budget. im in west virginia. thanks ## There are no generics on the market for Oxycontin, the new formulation with the OP marking is the only one that's available. To help prevent abuse, the FDA did away with all generic versions of the time released formulations of Oxycodone. Learn more Oxycontin details here. I'm sorry that it causes you to be so miserable. Have you looked into using an alternative medication? ## Serousily OXYCONTI...

Given the protective qualities of the new Oxy OP, if you cut, say a 40mg tab in half, does it still release the drug slowly? I noticed there is no warning label on the bottle saying do not chew. In other words, given the new formulation, if cut in half does it still retain its slow release quality? ## Retaining their time release properties, even if someone tries to cut them in half, crush or chew them is exactly how they are supposed to work. However, it is still not recommended that you alter your dosage, without your doctor's approval. Oxycontin contains the very powerful narcotic Oxycodone. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Learn more: Are there any questions or comments? ## I have taken one 80mg oxycontin and 1/2 of an 80mg (I cut an ...

20mg Oxycontin OP doesn't seem to work as well for me. I take it 3 times a day with 15mg oxycodone breakthru. Can anyone suggest a replacement for the 20mg's. Would a 15mg oxycodone and a 5 mg oxycodone work as well. Thanks so much for your help. ## It would be the same dosage, but since those ones are not time released, it would not last as long to relieve your pain, so such a dosage would have to be taken more frequently. Generally the regular formulations have to be taken 3 to 4 times a day, as opposed to the every 12 hours that you take Oxycontin. There have been many complaints regarding the new formulation not being as effective as the original, as well as comments that it caused odd side effects. If you had a problem with it, I suggest reporting them to both Purdue and th...

I was taking Percocet 10and I have Hepatitis C my doctor changed it to Oxycontin when I went to get this filled for 30 pills my insurance would not cover it it cost $90 so what other medication narcotic can I ask my doctor for that does not have Tylenol in it? I would appreciate an answer thank you so much. ## Wow! I am so sorry, that's horrible. Prices have jumped so horribly this year. Oxycontin isn't available as a generic, but the regular formulation of Oxycodone is, so you may want to ask your doctor about possibly trying it. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. I pulled a good one. My RXs were not in sync; one for extended release one week and the other immediate release the next. So I'm out waiting and going through hell. All because I let my pharmacy only give me enough for 3 weeks. Now they say they can't give me the ones they kept. I really didn't know it was going to be that way. Has anyone ever had this happen? ## Yes, that is normal pharmacy policy for controlled substances. You'll need a new prescription from your doctor to get the rest, or to wait until your next fill time. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## It just...

I recently got 80mg OC OxyContin that are green but they do not help me at all, it's almost as if they were fake. Does anyone know about them? Are the OC coming back? I need to know right away! Thanks so much! ## No, at this time Purdue has no intention of bringing the original formulation back to market. If that's what you have, they are either fake or extremely old and have lost efficacy, as medications tend to do over time. The FDA classifies Oxycontin as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Switch to 40mg of opana they are just like the original 80mg oxycontin

I was diagnosed with bone cancer several years ago and prior to during and after surgery I was prescribed oc 80mg. Which most of the time worked to relieve my pain. After being blessed (or not now) and survived they changed to the op. understand why but in all honestly it ruined my pain managment. By not helping as well and I believe causing other problems as well. It doesn't cover my pain doesn't last as long and if I miss one dose I get very ill. Please purdue pharma do the right thing and help those that use it properly and that were lucky to survive go back to oc's or bring back 160's. Imbegging you do the right thing. We get treated bad enough from the stigma of oxy atleast give it to those who take and need the medication as prescribed. Sincerely. In constant pain ...

After taking 4 Oxycontin 10mg with alcohol, how long will it stay in the system? ## Good article on OxyContin and variables that affect excretion: homehealthtesting.com/blog/2015/10/how-long-does-oxycodone-stay-in-your-system ## Well, that depends on the quantity you consume and the mode of administration, but normally it takes around 1-3 days. But if we refer to tests than it is detectable in blood tests for roughly 24 hours, in saliva tests for 1-4 days, urine tests 3-4 days and hair tests up to 90 days.

I have been taking OxyContin for a number of years when I never healed from an implanted morphine pump (due to inability to make antibodies). I never had stomach problems until the reformulation with the plastic coating. My stomach problem is getting worse over time. Is this from the plastic in the OxyContin? ## I am very sorry about the stomach issues that you're having. However, there is no plastic coating on Oxycontin, nor is there any plastic in it. Such substances are not approved by the FDA for use in oral medications. I am not familiar with all the ingredients that may go into some types of plastic, so there may be something used in some plastics that is also used in Oxycontin, but that doesn't mean plastic is actually in the medication. There are many edible/digestible i...

Does oxycontin, and percocet show up the same in a 12panel hair drug screen? ## Yes, the active narcotic in both is Oxycodone, so they would both show up the same on any drug screen. Since there are narcotic analgesics, they may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. Learn more: Is there anything else I can help you with? ## Will heroin show up like oxycodone ## I took one narco last night for a broken tooth had a hair test at 9am will it show up in my test

I suffer from cervical stenosis and severe back pain that may require surgery. I am also suffering from a mental illness/deep depression/anxiety. I take several meds for the latter. I had been prescribed hydrocodone 5/325 every six hours, and that worked great for my pain, and I didn't sleepy. Now since changing Pain Mgmt Specialist, he prescribes OxyContin 10mg 2x a day, and this makes me so sleepy, especially with all of my other medications. This new doctor said hydrocodone was not good to take with my mental illness, but he gives me OxyContin? I don't get it, clearly the OxyContin is worse for me if I'm sleepy all the time, at least I could function and stay awake on hydrocodone. I don't know what to do, my physiatrist has even written a letter stating the hydrocodon...

need to know what legit pharmacies are still carrying Oxycontin 40 mg Genrics in central coast california ## There is no generic Oxycontin, anywhere in the U.S. There are some provided by Ethex, however, they are just licensed distributors for Purdue and the stuff you get that has their name on it is the same stuff manufactured by Purdue. For awhile, they have still had a supply of the original Oxycontin OC, however, since Purdue has discontinued it, once their supply is exhausted, Ethex will also only be able to provide the new Oxycontin OP. I realize many people are unhappy about this change, there have been many reports that the new Oxycontin OP does not work as well as the original and that is caused odd side effects, however, the fact of the matter is that soon, no one will be able...

My husband is on OxyContin because he is disabled is there anyway to fill out a form for help of payment for these? Every year we try to find an insurance company to help out with paying for these and they are way over our heads. ## Purdue Pharma does have a patient assistance program, that may be able to help you, but only if you have no other type of prescription insurance. The other criteria include that you must be a U.S. resident and have an income at, or below 200% of the federal poverty level. His doctor would need to request an application and there are sections that both the doctor and patient have to sign, the doctor then sends the application with a prescription attached. If you meet the eligibility criteria, the medication will be shipped to your home. To get the application...

Has anyone had experience with the Endo Brand Oxy? I usually take the Barnd Name only but they were out. It doesn't seem to be as strong, but of course the pharmacist says, They're all the same! ## Found Tablet with light green and oval 99 on top and 33 other side. ## The generic is a weaker form than the brand name.
