Oxicontin 20mg

So there is generic Oxicontin. What is it called? I am prescribed 20mg of this 3 times day. What is good manufacturer of this cause I heard so many negative effects from these? I take oxycodone for breakthrough. I have been asking so many times and only hear about open a. Please tell me what I should ask my doctor for. Thanks

Hi Sue,

There is no generic Oxycodone Extended-Release that's currently available (at least in the US). Only brand-name "Oxycontin" & "Xtampza ER" fit this role for the time being. There may be other brands as well, but in the US those are the only two I'm presently aware of.

RE: "What is it called?" - If there ever was a generic "Oxycontin", it would simply be called "Oxycodone Extended-Release".

RE: "What is a good manufacturer of this cause I heard so many negative effects from these?" - Everyone's opinion of a 'good' manufacturer is subject to vary as some people may be more or less sensitive to different inactive ingredients that could affect one's perception of how well something works. They may also have different tolerance levels, whereas 20mg taken 3 times a day could be great for one person and a placebo for another person. Working closely with your doctor to find the right treatment is a vital, yet on-going component to chronic pain management.

P.S. Did you mean to say "Opana" towards the end of your post?
