Oxetol 300 Mg Side Effects (Page 2)

Hi there,

My dad is 58yrs old, he's an epilepsy patient for last 30+ years..Right from inital stage till date he has been using sodium valproate 400mg twice a day. Recently a few weeks back he's affected with epilepsy (fits) after nearly two years gap.

As a common practice we have consulted the doctor and has make him to undergo all the test (ECG/EPG) etc tests.

As a result the doctor whom we consulted has advised to stop using sodium valproate 400mg and replace it with Oxetol 300mg and assured this should take care of the issue.

Now all im worried here is, with my dad being 58yrs old, will changing the medicine now have any kind of impact? Will he be safe?

Please advise, im pretty worried about his health...

Hi, I had my first seizure on 17th august 2009. Then i was put on Oxetol 450 1-0-1. after 21 months , this mar ch i had my second seizure. Following which it was increased to Oxetol 600. A week earlier i had my third seizure. My doctor said that he's adding a tablet of Zonegren 100 to my night dose.Also My weight has increased by 6 Kgs over the last 2 years.
I am unmarried, 24 years old, and all my seizures have been preceeded by an aura and their duration has pregressively reduced to one fourth of my first seizure.
Will i ever be free of epilepsy with these indications, what else can i do apart from taking medication on time to help myself?

My son had a seizure in August,2009 ( first time in life at the age of 20yrs). An EEG was done and reported as :
The awake record shows a responsive occipital alpha activity at 8-10hz. Slowing in the range 4-6hz seen in the right temporo-parietal regions. Spike and slow wave discharges are seen inthe right parietal and temporal regions. Over-breathing and photic stimulation : no further abnormality seen.
Comments : Abnormal EEG showing potentially epileptogenic focus in the right parietal and right temporal regions. He was prescribed oxycarbazine 300mg and taking regularly since.
Yesterday, (10.09.11) in his office in the afternoon he felt guidiness and slumped down and neck turned to left and jaws were tight and bit his tongue slightly. There was no foam from his mouth and was ok in 5mins. This took place after along presentation in a Seminar. He had a light breakfast in the morning and had his lunch only after the presentation was over at 1400hrs. He was very hungry. The incident occurred after lunch.
He was given first aid immediately in a hospital and reported as LOC,seizure,Bp 80/130 and asked to continue the medicine and get a brain CT scan done by the doctor.
What could be the reason for such an incident to trigger after a gap of 2 yrs. even though he has been taking medicine regularly? What are your suggestions?

HI ... I AM 26 ... I AM TAKING OXETOL 450MG SINCE LAST ONE MONTH SINCE I HAD THIS VISION SHAKING PROBLEM .. AFTER TAKING MEDICINE I HAVE NORMAL PROBLEMS OF SLEEPINESS, DROWSINESS AND HEADACHE... DOES IT CAUSE LIGHT SENSITIVITY AND SWELLING OF FACE AND UNDEREYE????

Hi, Im 32 years old and have been taking Trileptal 600mg (3 pills) for the past 10 years. Unfortunately my doctor will not be available for the next 2 months and I was forced to seek a temporary replacement. He prescribed Oxatol. (Same dosage) I know both contain Oxcarbazepine. Is there a difference? Will I get any side effects by switching prescriptions? Is Oxetol more effective?

sir, i am 37 yrs old. On24-10-2011 at midnight around 12.30 i was in unconscious position for 30 minutes , and neurologist advised oxetol 300 daily 2 tablets and further advised to use the same forever. This was first time to me facing this type of problem , i want to take your opinion, is it necessary to use the same forever??????????
Further i want to know that, why it was happened like that?may it happen due to lots of pressure and tensions?

i m 30 yrs female and taking oxetol 300 from last 3 yrs and gone through ECG and MRI and all reports were normal but still sizors attack me

I have use Oxetol for last 8 years. doctor was adviced me to take 1 tab of 300 mg at night and 150 mg at day time daily. After 3 years when I want to reduce doses, I'm feeling that sezer may attack. but when I'm increase doses that problem has gone.My question is that have this medicine to take for lifetime?

My wife of 27 years of age taking Oxetol-300 since last 6months. Now She is pregnant. Whether Oxetol-300 is having any side effect on pregnancy.

Hi this shanwaz alam,23yrs old..
I've certain doubts listed below.can u pls have kindness n reply out..
1.is fits possible to rose in 22yrs of age,
2.do eye vision affects in cause of fits.
3.can fits be non-genetic
4.can fits be permanently cured rather having medicine daily..please help me out.i'm bit tensed of these.

@ rajini, even i too had seziure at 24-11-2011 at 4.00 am and at 6.00 am,
but what my opinion is this is happened due to lot of pressure,depression,tension for the brain

please share your valuable expereince here

Hi,
im writing this for my friend. She got seizures for the first time when she was in 12th. From that time for past 9 years she has been taking the tablets oxetol 300mg and Lobazaam (10 mg) which now has been reduced to oxetol 300(0.5-0-0.5) and lobazaam 5 (0-0-1). Even if she is taking medicines correctly she gets seizures if she gets tensed or worried about anything. Last year almost at the same time we all went for a trip. She missed her medicines for almost 3 days and after the trip she came to office without proper sleep and food. Then she fainted and got seizures. This year also we went for a trip. But right from the beginning she was very much worried whether the same incident will repeat and on the way suddenly she started shivering and fainted and got seizures. All this happened for 5-8 min and after that she was normal but now she doesnt remember what she was talking for next 20 min. But now she is worried to travel or go out in crowd. CT and MRI scan is normal. There is slight variation in EEG. Despite of taking the medicines correctly why this is repeating? For how many more years she have to take medicines? what are the side effects of these tablets? is this a problem for married life?

Hi I am miss patel,i am taking oxetol 300 from last 5 year and I feel relief from that drug,but as I am taking this drug from long time I am afraid of cause I am 22 year and if I will not take the drug I feel like vibration kind of seizure not exactly seizure.help me.

My daughter had her first seizure 2 years back and ever since she is taking extol 300 mg. Since one week she has stooped taking the night dose and as a result she is not able to have deep sleep and feels confused in the morning.Three hours after the morning dose she feels ok. Now can some one tell me if there is any problem in stooping the night dose permanently?

i am taking Oxetol 300mg 1-0-2 & frisium 10 mg, i am taking if after my second child Delivery till now i am taking it? how long should i take it? If i miss one dosage seizure will come back?

hi i m shruti 27 yrs old .... i m take oxetol 450mg twice a day as doctor prescription my question is this can affect my marriage life as i m single ... and dis seisure fits as i m getting dis attack after three yrs after stopping my medication dat attack was very minor still i m scared ....will it ever go from life or it will stay life long

I am an epilepsy patient (1st stage) since 5 years now I am (28+yrs) in this last 4 yrs i've been using oxetol 300 mg and stemetil 5mg twice a day. After I have started the treatment I have I got only once seizures and after that luckily it did not happen to me. And at the moment I could not consult my doctor for it. And its not available in Maldives (my country) so everytime I have to bring medicine from abroad which now adays financially my status is not good so I could not get the medicine. So since last year August i have stopped my medicine. So I would like to know whether is there any side effect or any other problem for me by stopping the medicine. And also I wanted to know will there be any problem for my baby because when I was pregnent also I was using the medicine because I did not know I was pregnant after 7 months only I knew it. But also I was using those medicine untill he was born and after that too.
