Overdose On 50mg Tramadol Pills

So I had taken tramadol a couple times in the past. I started out taking 6 pills at 50 mg each. The second time I did it I took 6 as well and my tolerance had already built up on them and they did next to nothing. A few days later I decided to up my dosage to 8 pills or 400mg along with about 1 1/2 beers. I got home that night and went to bed around midnight feeling pretty medicated. I woke up at 2:30am covered in vomit surrounded by paramedics wondering what the f*** just happened. Turns out I had a seizure and was throwing up the nastiest brown colored vomit I've ever seen. So they took me to the hospital and they did several tests, I never told them I OD'ed. While there I had serious back pain and after I got released I had some X-rays done, and from the seizure I had a compression fracture on my spine, now they put me on hydrocodone. So moral of the story is stay away from Tramadol, s***s bunk.

Hello, ElderLamb! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about what happened to you.

However, you did take far to many, at once, and you mixed it with alcohol, which is never a good idea. Tramadol does work very well for many people, but they usually only take it in prescribed amounts and abstain from alcohol, while being treated with it. Thus, your experience is really not typical.

If you took too many of the Hydrocodone and mixed in alcohol, you would also be putting yourself at very great risk.

Additionally, it could be fatal, if the Hydrocodone tablets you're taking also contain Acetaminophen. Exceeding 3,000mgs of that a day could result in toxicity that may lead to liver failure.

The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Please note, I am not trying to judge you or anything here, it is your life. But, it would be remiss of me to not warn you and put such truths out there so you are aware of them.

What kind of pain do you have? Is it an injury? I guess I'm wondering why were you taking 300-400mg of tramadol, is that how it was prescribed? Tramadol and alcohol are both respiratory depressants so the combination can be lethal. Before the manufacturers of generics started putting out substandard medications, tramadol was a very good alternate for narcotics like Vicodin/hydrocodone, etc., because, for me, it did not cause so much of a loopiness, or weirdness. But the tramadol that is being sold by generic manufacturers today is substandard and each batch causes a new set of side effects that are emotionally & physically miserable at times, and outweighs any benefit. The problem is, for those of us who have chronic pain who have been taking since it before the formulation was altered, cannot just quit taking it. Also, most of us know that we will have to take some kind of pain medication so we can be able to live active lives, but the alternatives to tramadol are narcotics like Vicodin, morphine, etc., that cause loopiness, tiredness, etc., and they are also now produced substandard in quality by the generic manufacturers. I can only imagine how this lack of concern by the FDA about the substandard quality of the medication that generic manufacturers are putting out, is affecting those people whose lives depend on the effectiveness of their medications.
