Orap Concerns

Updated December 30, 2011

My 15 year old son will be starting Orap for his severe breathing tics for the first time. I am terrified of this drug but we are out of options. Can anyone tell me about their experiences with this drug.

I haven't used it, but the reason I'm here is to provide you with information about it.

I wouldn't say that it's necessary to be terrified of it, it has its risks, but so does any other medication on the market, even over the counter products. You should just make sure you are fully informed and discuss your concerns with your doctor.

Orap contains the active ingredient Pimozide, it is an antipsychotic that has been shown effective at treating resistant tics.

You can learn more about it here:

I would assume he's started the medication by now. How has he been doing with it?
