Oralcon To Stop Prolonged Period Bleeding

I am 47 years old and on the 28th August i started spotting on and off for about 2 weeks before my period started. My period has now been going for about 3 weeks non stop. I visited the clinic and they gave me Oralcon and said that I must take 2 white tablets immediately and thereafter 1 a day until my period stops. After the 2nd day of taking Oralcon my period had stopped but I was experiencing terrible stomach pain so I stopped taking the Oralcon and my period has started again. I dont have medical aid and I am unemployed so this is really stressing me terribly. What can I do? Is this normal for someone my age? Before this my last 2 periods only lasted 2 or 3 days then stopped.

Hello Lee,

Oralcon is a medicine that contains hormones that work to help regulate your period and prevent pregnancies. I feel like you should discuss this with your primary care physician because there are other similar products available that may work better for you and prevent this from happening again. I can't give you the names of these medicines as I am not a medical professional and it would be blind advise to do so, but your doctor should be able to help you.

Thank you Kevin. I am going back to the clinic to discuss. I believe I am in perimenopause that's how come the prolonged period.
