Have you consulted your doctor?

I am not sure which specific medication you are referring to, because there are several that end in this format, they are proton pump inhibitors that are used to help reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, so treat or prevent conditions such as heartburn, ulcers, GERD and gastritis.

The most commonly used is Omeprazole:

And whether or not it helps, depends on what your condition is and how severe it is, that would also determine how long you should take it, if it is an appropriate medication. However, only a doctor is going to be able to help you determine that.
