Opana Meds Shortage

I've been taking Opana ER 20mg and Opana IR 10mg for 6 years now. It has been the best in managing my chronic pain. As if having to deal with that pain weren't enough, I now have to worry that the one medication that allows me some peace. Now it won't be available when I need my refill on May 15th. I am terrified of having to deal with my pain without any help and of the world of other problems I will have because of sudden stoppage of my meds. No one seems to have an alternative to offer. My quality of life is nonexistent when my pain has skyrocketed beyond my tolerance level. How come the manufacturers can pull the rug out from under patients like me? The ones that are legit. The ones who use their meds properly and are grateful for even a small amount of relief? The ones where their doctors describe their pain as "chronic, intractable"?

There is no current shortage of Opana, there was a brief one, while they were changing the formulation to make it harder for people to abuse, but the new formulation is on the market and most people haven't had any problems getting their prescriptions filled recently.

HELP!! IACL was just told again by my pharmacy that my Opana IR,10mg is still not available. How are some able to get theirs while others, like me, have to worry?? I take two at the time, three times a day and have been at that dosage for 3 years. Sudden stoppage could be dangerous for me. Not only that but I can't help but worry over how I'm going to be able to cope with my pain. Don't know what to do!

I am right there with you. Please contact Endo Pharmacuticals. They make Opana. Tell them time is running out for them! Tell Endo you are going to ask your doctor to switch long term pain meds, unless the problem they have created gets fixed fast!

Bull! I have tried for days to find IR 10mg and ER 40mg in Southeastern NC. It is crazy for me to search for these drugs every month, fearing that i'm very likely to face more pain when the withdrawl sets in. Perhaps the person who originally wrote this post is actually the maker who is trying to maintain its market share. Regardless of whatever this guy feels, he is less than knowledgable about the shortage affecting the entire country. There IS a major shortage and those of us who have actually used the meds properly are left to suffer. I've checked and there is no comparable meds to the formula of Opana. It is ridiculous that there is no redundancey in manufacturing medicines in 2012. One would think that considering the unpredictable world in which we live, there would be some sort of plan in place to automatically allow rival companies to produce a drug in short supply, or in the case of Opana, which is unavailable at best. Of course money talks!!!

I don't know where the person who wrote that there is no shortage got the info that it had been cleared up from but has NOT been cleared up, there IS INDEED a shortage. I TOO take Opana ER and IR and I am having a heck of a time getting the immediate release in BRAND name. I can get the ER now, but I can NOT get the IR in brand which I need. I couldnt get ANYTHING for a while, everyone was like, " It will be cleared up soon" Well soon isn't soon enough when you are a cancer patient recovering from surgeries and are dependant on this for pain relief. This isn't FUN. This isn't a joke..I wish i didnt have to take it. IF you don't know what you are posting, please refrain from posting misinformation and making the rest of us that need these medications feel like idiots. We have done our homework.

I 'm sorry for all coping with severe pain. I have severe RA but have my pain under control with injections for the auto immune disorder. I have Opana 10 mg but never needed to use it. I don't want to do anything illegal, but I want to help. What do I do? I was prescribed this from a pain clinic but chose not to use it.

I am in dyer need of opanas, lost my script for opana 15mg white 262 with half moon. Been two year and the percocets I'm on now don't even begin to do the trick. If anyone knows an online source I could get them from I would go to the moon and back for them. Thanks you so much.
