i have been taking oxycotin 80mg. for about ten years, the new op version is terrible.I been under the same doctor for most of my life, one thing I do not understand is why are truly sick being punished for all the abusers/or drug dealers.I'm in and out hospital all the time with life threating problems, even the hospital has the original oc.the new one have a rubber substance and carsonagenics in it from what i here.Thats very dissturbing! All I know it not the same.it does not control my pain or last as long(12hrs).It makes me have flu like symptoms, headaches upset stomach so I have to take phenagen, which makes me sleepy, but the new pill makes me sleepy even on a lower dose, where as the oc I could take my regular dosage and not get sleepy so I can function and have a better life.i so depressed about the situation i am thinking about talking to a lawyer about all this.I know Canada and Mexico will not except this new version. I understand the problem with abusers/dealers,plus multi doc. shopping, but ther should be a way to look at peoples medical records to see they have a valid reason to be perscribed this medication and not penalize everybody.I,m under a special type doctor(oncology/hemotology)for my illness,so ther should be a system up to sort out the bad. Not only do i have the other symptoms the constipation is 10 times worse and i have stomach issues that worries me.I itch all the time and break out in hives,so ther again I have to take benadyle which makes me sleepy,I just want to live as much as normal life possible not in bed sleeping away my life.I,ve also had two seizure since the new product came out, still waiting to see what caused those.I looked up the contents of the new pill it,s very disturbing to look whats in them vs. old oc,s.Imight as well be smoking and swollowing rubber which I wonder if it even breaks down.I put 1 of my op,s in water and some acid i was throwing up one day just to see how long it took to break down.I,t took 4 days!!!thats not good,I,ve talk to my doctor about this he was shocked, so we,ve dicussed changing med.,but all others make me sick or so sleepy.I just wish the DEA and Purdue company would bring back the original oxycotin for those that need the meds.for their medical problem and sort out those that are abusing the system.

Unfortunately, there have been many complaints that the new formulation does not work as well and that it can cause odd side effects.

I am very sorry to read of the problems you are having. Have you reported the issues to the FDA and Purdue?

You can do so at the following numbers:

Purdue Pharma number for drug safety/medication issues:

888.726.7535

FDA MedWatch number:

800-332-1088

As to hospitals still having the original product in stock, that is because they order and stock such large amounts of medications. Purdue has completely stopped manufacturing it, so once they run out, they will also be forced to switch to the new product.

What other medications have you tried?
