Hello, Judy! How are you?
The FDA classifies Sotalol as a beta blocker that is most commonly used to treat irregular heartbeat. Thus no, you need to take it regularly for it to actually work. These medications cannot be taken on as needed basis. In order to have their full beneficial effect in the body, their level must be maintained.
The typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and hypotension.
Is there anything else I can help with?
