i been on home dialysis for 5 years,im on many different kinds of bp meds and a stool softener,i was put on oxycodone 30mg about 7 months ago ,every month i take a urine tox screen,i got a bad infection a couple months ago and was on some very strong antibiotics then switched to different ones,well my last 2 tox screens came back free of opiates so i took a mouth swab it came back with hydrocodone?im highly allergic to viccodine its in all my medical records i have no idea how this could be.they said they send tests to texas i live in ohio is there a time frame for either test? they discharged me i dont know what to do

What I am guessing happened is that they actually use a test that looks at the levels of the drug in your body, as well as checking for the presence of it. The level would be based on your dosage, dosing frequency, overall health, other medications you take, activity levels and various other factors that are unique to you.

However, any level that is too low is treated the same as a negative, they report the result just like they would if they didn't detect any, at all. Antibiotics usually cause diarrhea as a side effect, which means you also have to take in more fluids to compensate and thus, your levels were likely far lower than usual.

And the mouth swab test is actually pretty easy to throw off, it may give a false positive from the Oxycodone you've been taking, or any one of your other meds. They are really the most unreliable it seems.

And what do you mean they discharged you? Do you mean they will no longer have you as a patient?
