From what I can gather, Ondem Syrup contains the active ingredient Ondansetron; which is used to relieve nausea and vomiting.
I would go ahead and follow the dosing instructions that your doctor provided, since only he knows the medical history of your child and can determine the amount of medication necessary based on his weight.
There is no way to know for sure if the medications your child has been prescribed will help since everyone reacts to medication differently. Just be sure to consult your doctor if your child's symptoms become worse or don't go away. Side effects may include: diarrhea or constipation,weakness, headache, or fever.
If your child experiences any of these serious side effects, get emergency medical help:
Blurry vision, trouble breathing, slow heart rate, shivering,
severe dizziness, fainting, urinating less than normal or not at all,
fast or pounding heartbeats.
