"IP" means Indian Pharmacopoeia . Every country has its own book of medicines where the details , composition , procedure and dosage of the drugs are mentioned . Every conuntry has their own way of making the medicines compatible for their country and environmental factors. Example ; United States have their own Pharmacopoeia which is USP like that even Britian have their own Pharmacopoeia i.e BSP or BP . IP is a book of standards of making drugs/medicines in India .

Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that is used to reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach to treat conditions such as heartburn, GERD, ulcers and gastritis.

I have omeprazole dr 20mg prescribed by my doctor because I have pain in my chest sometimes. I don't like taking pills, so can I stop take after a short time or is there a withdrawal effect to discontinuing this pill? Thank you. I am 81 years old and in good health, only taking 3 pills.
