Omeprazole 20mg Sinus Infection

My doctor prescribed Omeprazole 20 mg for a bad sinus infection. after reading about the drug online im confused as to why he prescribed this medication as it seems it is made for acid reflux?

Yes, Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that's used to reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach to treat conditions such as heartburn, GERD and ulcers.

It will not do anything to treat a sinus infection.
