Hi viv,
The "usual adult dose" is taking 200-400mg every 12 hours for 7-10 days; depending on the type of infection and how severe it is.
Although I can't confirm it, I do believe that this is pertaining to the extended-release version of the drug, since it says "every 12 hours"; when typically these types of drugs are more or less like every 4-6 hours or so.
I also find it odd that your prescription doesn't have a label with any information on how or when to take it; if anything but for your own general safety. Personally, if I didn't have any instructions from my doctor or pharmacy I wouldn't even take it. But the next best thing in my honest opinion would be to follow what the typical dosing schedule is for this drug (listed above).
I hope this helps!
