The strongest medications available over the counter would be nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, such as Advil and Aleve.
The FDA lists their typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and stomach irritation.
However, before taking anything, you should have this checked in order to figure what's causing the pain and what your doctor advises you to take for it.
Are you on any prescription medications? Do you have any other medical conditions?
