You have to have your dr write the script for generic oxymorphone er, my pharmacists wouldn't do anything and didn't know anything about generics til I told them. But they have been on the market for a few yrs now, not hard to get. You can ask your pharmacists to order them, nothin wrong with that. If they r ****s then talk with your dr and have him/her write the brand that you want on the script, then the pharmacy is S.O.L., if the pharmacist is high and mighty and won't order them. In reality you can get whatever brand or meds you want, as long as insurance will cover, and you have a legit reason for getting them, and they may make you wait til they go through the pills they already have to get rid of first. If they won't order for you, you talk to the store manager. hope that helps

1ST of all you have to have your doctor write for OxyMorphone IR not Opana and then you will get the Generic brand..Also, make sure you tell your pharmacists that Global Pharm/Impax Labs makes these now.. I get mine from CVS in FL and all CVS's can get them per Global Pharm.. I called them up directly and they told me your Pharm should be able to place a order and the should have them for you in 1 wk or less.. I pre order mine so they are ready whenI get my script a wk later.. Hope this helps.

I think you mean ask for Oxymorphone "ER". I think Impax/Global makes an IR version, but they only make them in smaller doses. In my experience most of the pharmacies I went to looking for them, had never heard of them. They all (including 2 or 3 different CVS Stores) said they couldn't order them. I mean sure, they probably can, it's just that they don't want to and would rather send you elsewhere.

I had better luck asking my doctor to recommend a small independent pharmacy that he knew stocked them.

I have a question for all of you that have been taking the Global/Impax Generic Opana ER. I have been taking the 30's for about 6months and have had excellent pain relief. I take my medication as prescribed and have beeno doing well. I am disabled and am on Medicare.

My pharmacist told me that Endo had somehow managed to get a judge to reverse the DEA's ruling on Opana's patent case. Therefore the generics will soon be going away and the remaining stock of generics has doubled in price. This is obviously terrible news. Although the news stories I have found don't seem to affect the Global/Impax generics, only the ones made by other manufacturers (i.e. "The Moons").

My insurance wouldn't pay for the generic this month, but it would pay for brand which is crazy to me. How can generic cost more than brand? Have any of you ran into this dilemma? Surprisingly the brand works well, a little too well. I have been very dopey feeling which I don't like. The new pills are also very hard to cut in two if I don't want to take a full dose. I know you aren't supposed to do that, but I can't be intoxicated and function.

So again, anyone else had this issue?

I'm having the same problem! Medicare says they will cover the brand name but not the generic oxymorphone anymore. I'm wondering if I can get a prior authorization from Medicare to make an exception since the brand name gives me too many side effects and the generics are more effective. Please respond and let me know if anyone else is having the same problem with Medicare now only paying for brand suddenly when for about two years straight I've always gotten the generics and has anyone tried to get Medicare to make an exception and continue to approve the generics

Julie did you ever find a solution to this insurance issue? I have been taking the brand name medication for a few months now, and it works pretty much the same I guess.

I have seen no problems obtaining the generics.. Just the skyrocketing prices

See that's what my pharmacist told me. The generic drug costs more than the brand name does. That's why my insrurance will pay for the brand name only. How is that even possible?

Hi, I don't know of anyone who would give out that kind of information to a complete stranger on the Internet. If you're a legitimate chronic pain sufferer, call a local pain clinic. Better still, would be to have your Primary Care Doc recommend someone & refer you to them.

Oxymorphone? What's going on with insurance companies. Will not pay at all for generic, and pharmacies will not take rx savings cards, or 70 percent off, it raises instead of lowering the price. I have Humana and it sucks, locked in for 6 more mths.? Any advice?

CVS will fill it generic but the doctor has to sign it above where it says Substitution Permitted. Even if somebody is sleeping with the pharmacy that fills it, they will not fill it unless it says what i type above about Doctor signing it above Substitution Permitted...i am not saying anybody sleeping with a pharmacist, i just meant if you have a really good relationship with your pharmacist no matter what if that isn't signed they won't fill it.. cos i ask one time and he said it has to be signed by doctor or we will fill it with Opana...i told him i was just asking... cos mine was never like that, it's always signed to get generic Oxymorphone :-)

Wildhearts you have to get rid of Humana. That's what they put everyone on initially and it's terrible! You can actually choose a much better drug plan from day 1, but you have to do the calling around to research it yourself. One thinguy I learned is that if you're on Medicare & get "extra help" you can switch plans anytime you want to. It still doesn't go into affect until the next month but it's still better than waiting 6 months.

Dave ,Thank you for sharing this imformation. I will start looking now, Humana changed from the initial conversation and kept changing til I paid 698.00 today for my medication. If you know a Health Provider that covers the Oxymorphone Er generic. I would greatly appreciate the help. Sincerely Thank you

Use this plan finder tool, it's what I use. It's different for everyone as the plans vary from state-to-state. Hope this helps and God bless.

Dave, wow.. I am feeling pretty small right now. I just found out that there is a prescription coverage that covers all but 199.00. Which is a big difference. I never thought of looking it up before because I thought I was in a lock in. So if I found that in 10 min. I know I can get a way better deal all around to cover everything. Humana is out and in with someone knew. Just got to shop around. Thanks again
