Oxymorphone!!! Help Finding Generic Opana 40 Mgs Please!!!
UpdatedIve been on opans 40 mg for about 5 yrs.i hate the new formulated opanas so when i found out about the release of the generic from impaxs and how well theyve worked for others that have been on opana too ive wanted to get them.well i got my script yesterday and cant find them anywhere.most places keep saying they dont make a generic which i know is bulls*** cuz i called impax to find out where i can find them and they didnt kno but gave me the names of the 3 distributers they deal with and got no where with that.my question is does anyone kno of a place around akron/canton ohio area that i can get them filled.any help with this is greatly appreciated.thanks for the help and good luck to everyone else that is dealing with chronic pain and going through hell just to get some releif which is beginning to seem impossible anymore
The main issue here is that they are still very new, so it's going to take awhile before they are freely available on the market.
Each pharmacy has a limit on how much of any given medication that they can order in and have in stock in any given month. This is due to federal laws and there is nothing they can do about it.
So, if any particular pharmacy already has a stocked supply of the name brand in the maximum amount, they can't order in the generic, even if it does become available to them through their distributor.
Learn more Opana details here.
So, unfortunately, you may still have to accept the name brand for another few months, until the generic becomes more widely available.
Are there any other questions or comments?
I also take 40mg Opana Er and asked my pharmacist for the generic version when I heard about them. She told me that there is no generic for the 40mg and that my Dr would have to lower my dose to 20mg or lower in order for me to get the generic. I am not sure if she knew what she was talking about or not. I currently pay almost $700 for my prescription so I was more than willing to try the 20mg but Dr says that is too bit of a step down and that I would suffer withdawal so he wasn't willing to let me try it.
Thank you for your help and the info on that.i was lucky to find a pharmacy that ordered it for me and had it to me by morning so i didnt have to wait long at all.i am very glad i did try the generic cuz i think they work way better and faster.anyway thanks again for the info..
Sherry lynn they do make a generic for its made by impaxs or global pharm.so if u tell the pharmacist that info and they are willing to do the leg work to get it for u im sure you would b very happy with them.i just called every pharmacy til i found one that was willing to look it up and see they do make a generic now and order it for me.so i hope that you can find them cuz i hate it if i had to drop to the 20s just to get the generic form.i know id withdraw from it so im sure you would to.id just keep calling pharmacies and you will find someone willing to help you get them.good luck and i hope it works out for you.
hey T, I also get prescribed global's oxymorphone tablets and live in the cleveland area..where were you able to fill your prescription b/c as of now I travel to Pennsylvania to get mine filled? {edited for privacy}
T,
I've been taking Global Pharmaceuticals (Imax pharmaceuticals generic division) Oxymorphone HCL ER 40 mg for 2-months now with phenomenal relief. It's the original revision, so there definitely isn't any TRF in them.
I live in southern CA and always get my medication from CVS. I've have a very close relationship with my pharmacist and techs. So they've been ordering any C-II's that I request without hesitation.
However, my last fill was a challenge because there is a shortage of the medication. Mostly from its popularity because it provides awesome relief. I contacted the manufacturer and discovered that they're having a shortage of the medication everywhere.
The pharmaceutical rep assured me that this should be resolved in 2-weeks and most distributors should have the medication within 3-weeks. Then the medication should be widely available within 4-weeks at most major pharmacies.
I would suggest you contact a large pharmacy since they carry most C-II's and determine if they carry it. But you can always develop a friendly relationship with your local pharmacist. Once they know you're a stable, loyal customer. They're always willing to bend backwards with ordering medications for you.

I. Also take opana 40 and live near pittsburgh pa. I would really like 2 know where to get genaric ones
Bry i was able to get them filled at a little mom and pop pharmacy by my house.i just called around found a pharmacy that was willing to order it for me and went there.so i would suggest just calling around start near the hospitals or cleve.clinic cuz i found some pharm by the hospital that had it also.good luck and i hooe you find it.you should b able too tho if u just call around.
I have been on the oxymorphone that Global Pharmaceuticals is now manufacturing for 3 weeks, and am amazed at how much better it is then Opana!! I take 1-40mg. ER, and 1-20mg., ER in the morning, and then again 12 hours later. I also have 3-10mg. oxymorphone IR's for breakthrough pain each day. The pain relief that I am getting from the ER's is so good that I do not need to take the 10mg. IR's anymore!! For any chronic pain patience that feel stuck on the reformulated Opana's, you now have an alternative to being forced to swallow a plastic pill that your body can not digest.

Please let me know where you went to. I'm from Wooster and have called everywhere and they won't even acknowledge that there is a generic available but it was my insurance company that told me about them because we just got new insurance and without dealing with a prior auth they said they would cover the generic oxymorphone Sr ones but I can't find any pharmacy that carries them or willing to help me get them when I called at least 20 local lharms this afternoon. I'm due for mine right now and have my RX .please contact me if you are willing {edited for privacy} I am willing to travel to ask or canton or anywhere within reason rather than to go without in less than 2 days when I run out.
Much appreciated
Erin

Today is the last day of meds I have from last months rx and won't have any as of tomoro morning. I need to figure out somewhere asap! Thanks so much for replying back to me and offering to help! I had my local Walgreens order the generic oxymorphones for me 1 week prior to when my new prescription was due to be filled. It helped that I printed out the page of Global/Impax website that mentioned the generics. My pharmacist wasn't aware of the generics being available, either!! If you have been getting your prescription for Opana from a certain pharmacy, they shouldn't have a problem ordering them for you. Now Walgreens makes sure that they have them in stock for me every month at the time I need to get my refills. It pays to get to know your pharmacist on a more personal level. Especially when it comes to pain medication. I hope that this helps you!!
Hey there im srry bout that i filled out a form to give u my contact info.i kno its already passed due for ur meds but hopefully this will work.i think u need to do the same thing click on the contact form link.or try contact at 3:30 and then at 5 then 8 and then 1 and again at 4:48 0 and hopefully u can get ahold of me that way aand we can get u some help.just remember them times to contact them ;)
You have to get your doctor to write the script for oxymophone HCL 40mg if you get it wrote for opana 40mg thats what you get but get it wrote for what I said and that is what get and that is what your calling gernic .so write it down and see if your doctorwill write it mine will not good luck they are better meds
I had no problem getting the Oxymorphone generic 40 ER from CVS. I have a very good relationship with my pharmacists after going there for 30 years so when the first looked and couldn't find it on their system a little digging by the pharmacist and there they were. They are distributed by Global Pharmaceutical and Oxymorphone HCL 40 is the name. My doctor wrote the prescription as Opana ER 40 but CVS had no issue with filling it with the generic version. Printing the page from Impax or Global might help your pharmacy find the drug. It does exist, it is cheaper by 1/2 and it seems to work much better.
I had no problem getting my Opana ER 40 filled with the generic version. This shouldn't be an issue unless your doctor writes "Brand Only' on the prescription. The pharmacy needs to be told you want the generic version. CVS filled my Opana ER 40 prescription with the Oxymorphone ER 40 with no questions. Once they found them in their system they told me to give them a couple of days notice the next time I need a refill and they will order them so they will be available.
Why won't your doctor write the prescription for the generic medication? It is the same medication and it costs 1/2 as much. Does your doctor have stock in Endo? It sounds very suspicious and I would confront the doctor if I were you. Unless you have a history of abusing your medication your doctor shouldn't care if the prescription is filled with generic or brand medication. Also, as I said, CVS has no problem filling Opana ER 40 with generic Oxymorphone ER 40. They are the same drug so CVS doesn't care if it's generic or brand.
She lied to you. My husband gets the generic 40 mg by Global. They just don't want to order them for you. Go to a little mom and pop typer pharmacy. They will help you more.
Can you please help me find the generic opana 40 near Cleveland ohio

Re: Wildhearts (# 80)
Hi! I know this message is older but can't hurt to ask. Are you talking about a plan that helps with your cost for Oxymorphone? I'd like to know what you know. Thanks
A small Pharmacy may help you better than a large one. I had a small pharmacy in nj who found me an oxymorphone ER generic that worked great until my phila. Dr of 17 yrs was shut down by the DEA. I now suffer with no medical records & no pain relief. The DEA needs to stop treating our dr this way & get on the streets & stop illicit drug abuse. Get off computers & get to the street like you use to. Get to real DEA work, stop harassing dr's & suffering patients. Yesterday!!!
Re: Allan (# 94)
They are not distributing opana/oxymorphone anymore, was pulled, however @ the end of August I was hospitalized & they had in my records that I was receiving oxymorphone so they gave it to me in the hospital so they are still using it as of late august!
I found out they're not making them anymore..anywhere
Re: mimi 539 (# 7)
The accuse pharmacy in shayside on 5th and center the old medicine shop carried the oranges
I get prescribed OxyContin 80 mgs. I was getting them till Purdue stopped the program I was using for my Oxycontin sent to me every month. Now this the first month I haven't filled my prescription in 3 years and don't know what to do. Don't know which pharmacy or where to fill my rx, and if I could get some info on the generic it would be great for the oxymorphone because I know that would help the same if not better. The generic name of it is Oxymorphone ER.
Which pharmacy? In metro detroit amd cant find anywhere
There are a lot of misinformed users here who post as if they are knowledgeable. I have been prescribed Opana ER 40mg for the past 6 years and I have been taking the generic version for the past 3 years. The Oxymorphone Hydrocloride ER is distributed by Global Pharmacy and manufactured by Impax. I have been getting this medication through my local CVS pharmacy since January 2013. If anyone is told there is no generic version of Opana then provide your pharmacy with this information and they should be able to obtain it for you. Also, the recent FDA ruling requesting that Endo no longer produce the reformulated Opana ER should not affect the generic version.
GE pharmacy will order them for you, walgreens will order, I use a mom & pop pharmacy & they order now for me. They r so much better than the TRF version. Keep trying!
