How long does it take for OxyContin 40mg CR taken twice daily to get in my system and provide full effect? I was prescribed these and am on my 3rd day taking them with 2 loratab 10mg for breakthrough and have received a different effect each time taking the OxyContin-Also, is the 40mg OxyContin a standard dose for someone that has been taking 3 10mg loratab for break through pain with 3 15mg morophine ER daily for continued relief?

Yes, that is a fairly standard dose, but while it should have some immediate effect, it may take 4 to 5 weeks for it to reach its full level of efficacy in you body.
The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.
Has there been any improvement, yet?
