Oralcon Contra Pills

Hi I'm nthabiseng and I have just started using oralcon...it was given to me by a nurse/sister at the clinic,she told me to take it same day given to me after I told her I took my periods two weeks back and as I read the intruction it states you must take them on the first day of your periods.....my question is that (will it work preventing me from being pregnant or not).....I'm a bit CONFUSED because I did as intructed at the clinic!!!

If you start taking them on the first or second day of your period, then you will be immediately protected from pregnancy.

However, if you start them at any other time during your cycle, they must be taken for a full 7 days, without missing any tablets, in order for them to reach their efficacy level in your body and protect you from pregnancy.

So yes, they will still work, but not for the first week. If you have intercourse during the first 7 days, you'll still need to use some other type of contraceptive.
