Nuvigil - Increasing Dosage
UpdatedI have been on 150mg Nuvigil per day for several years. Previous to that, I was on Provigil , but the insurance co. made the dr. switch me over to Nuvigil because it was supposedly less expensive. I am chronically ill and disabled with many health issues and have been this way for 10 yrs. I am also on 12-14 other meds. daily, many which make me drowsy - thus the need for Nuvigil. Recently , one of my other prescriptions(that has drowsy side effects) was increased, I don't know if it's a result of that or it's because I have been on it for so long, but it's not working as well as it used to. It may be a combination of both. I plan on calling my dr. first thing tomorrow, because I cannot keep my eyes open starting around approx 8 hrs. after taking my dose. I cannot stand being drowsy all the time. Has anyone heard of taking two doses a day ? Or would he just increase the dosage to 250mg? I was just wondering if I could get some feedback from other consumers of this product. Thank you in advance for any advice.

There are higher doses available and it seems from what I'm finding that the maximum daily dose is 400mgs.
But no, it isn't done in divided doses, it's just once daily.

Have you ever tried any of the stimulant medications that are time released, such as Adderall XR?
I'm wondering if that may help you for a longer period of time.
I had a similar problem when I was on a high dose of Morphine, it was very hard to keep my eyes open, all I wanted to do was sleep all day.
