Just started Nuvigil and am experiencing the racing heart, speedy head, et.al. I'll not use it again. That said, I must sleep. I take 5 mg of ambien (zolpidem) a night. Are there any adverse reactions to this?

Those can be normal side effects of Nuvigil, as listed by the FDA, since it is a stimulant, they should improve after about 4 to 5 weeeks, as your body gets used to the medication.
As to the Zolpidem, the Nuvigil can decrease the effectiveness of it, so it may not work as well for you. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, hallucinations and sleep actions.
Is your doctor aware that you're taking both?
