Nortriptyline And Cigarette Use
UpdatedI am on Nortriptyline 75 mg. My psychiatrist ordered it yesterday. She said it would help with my nicotine cravings as I want to cut back, not quit. My question is, can Nortriptyline be helpful in quitting smoking?

It really depends on why you smoke. Some antidepressants have been shown to be helpful with smoking cessation, but they don't always work for everyone. Have you tried taking it yet, to see if it helps you?
The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood changes, and weight changes.
Are you on any other medications? How much do you smoke each day?
