Norspan Pain Patch And After Bariatric Surgery Pain Relief

I'm on Norspan 20mg patches (7 day release). I am scheduled to go for bariatric (gastric sleeve) surgery and was wondering what pain relief I can be given/ask for (Pethidine is obviously out as Norspan is an opiate antagonist, but tramadol may work, but is not as strong as pethidine)

I'm really not sure what all is available for you to use.

Have you discussed it with your doctor?

It might be necessary for you to stop the Norspan for awhile, before surgery, so other pain medications can be used.


In the U.S. in hospital settings, the most commonly used medication is Dilaudid, which contains the potent narcotic analgesic Hydromorphone:
