Norco's Number Not Being Filled?

I live in Northern California and I have been taking Norco's for 15 yrs due to 2 MAJOR car accidents I have been in( passenger both times) I should have died but I'm still here but in pain EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE.. I get a RX for 240 per month and now the Pharmacy is saying they can only fill like 180 per month, that's not what the doctor wrote it for so how can the Pharmacist change MY DOCTOR'S ORDERS???

There were new regulations put in place last year that restrict how many can be prescribed per month, except in cases where someone has intractable pain due to a possibly terminal illness, such as stage 4 cancer.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

It's actually surprising that they offered to fill it for 180 and didn't just reject your entire prescription, as some pharmacies are doing to some people.

The only suggestion I can make is to speak to your doctor, maybe they can write it as separate prescriptions, or prescribing something else in addition to the 180 of these that you can get.

Does anyone else have any advice or ideas to offer?

I want to say any doctor that would prescribe 240 Norco a month is crazy. That's 8 a day, that's way too much Tylenol day after day. The doctor should be prescribing oxycodone or if he wants time release but at 8 a day I don't think that's his objective. OxyContin or opana IR in low mg's is the answer if she doesn't want to have liver failure. There are other Meds I can name but I don't see the point.

Some who needs that much Norco should be seeing a Pain Management Dr. I was at that point and the PM DR put me on MS morphine with just 2 Norco for breakthrough. The time release meds are wonderful! There's no waking up in the middle of the night with the pain. I haver sow switched to Butrans, a 7 day patch that I really love. I get 2 Norcos and 2 Ultrams/day for breakthrough, but I don't always need them. It's nice to have a few extras set aside for really bad days, or when the Pharmacy is having problems filling my order.

This is a big problem
If you still are fighting monthly , getting blindsided by withdrawal due to these Sumer vacations , etc that doctors are going on... You may have felt as if you're on a rollercoaster. You're not a lone! I know that pain too well
I know it sounds like I'm rambling hallmark
But seriously , don't give up
Days can seem bleak
Scary
Almost dreading waking up when I used to be low/out of my norco. However , I would always find a legal way to obtain rx.
Until... A pharmacy (large chain) didn't like my rx. A first , seeing as I ALWAYS FILLED it there, same qty and this in August 2014. She not only refused to fill, but she sent my dr history of meds ( no other narcotics ) and wrote that she was flagging me. I was pissed
She was so fast and my daughter w me
Before I knew it, I was spending a whole day in the heat , hunting for pharmacy to fill
I was edgy , I was stressed and getting a servers migraine so this not only caused inconvenient times but pushed me into a miserable middy me
As long as dr was not being hassled , he wrote rxs like candy
Then ... Perfection
Now... I realize it as a double edged sword
Suboxone saved my life but the specialist I was sent to, only wanted money
He kept me at highest mg for a year almost now
It's most like righting to reduce
Yet, I still recommend so anyone reading ? Go get some treatment r before u forget and lose yourself
