Norco Withdrawal Please Help (Top voted first)
UpdatedWithdrawal from Norco just started and I took a couple to fix the pain. Will these withdrawal symptoms go away if I continue with my normal dosage? If not I'm screwed.

Hello, Chuck! How are you?
Yes, taking them should stop the withdrawal symptoms, though it likely won't be immediate, it may take a day, or so.
The FDA lists the typical withdrawal symptoms as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.
The best thing to do, if you want to stop taking them is to gradually reduce your dosage, by taking less each day and spacing your doses further apart. Your doctor can help you set up an appropriate tapering schedule for you.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Verwon thank you very much, I had ran out a bit early just due to a busy month. I am feeling better at the moment and one day I hope to eliminate the medicine for good. Thank you once again.
How do you get off Norco when you have chronic pain? Yes, it's not good because of the addiction, I don't take them to feel high, I take them because of chronic pain. Is my pain tolerance low? I believe so. I can't stand it. It affects my mood, my everything, but the narcotics are addicting and I have been through withdrawal. It's absolutely horrible. I need some suggestions.
Re: Chrystal (# 3)
I'm currently tapering off Norco...down to one per day (from 4 per day). It is my third week of the taper. I'm going really slow, it really helps. But also started Neurontin and Clonidine for withdrawal symptoms. I have three pain conditions but it was my idea to get off these. I have to say I've been kicking and screaming the whole way, (complaining like heck) but my insurance set me up with a pharm specialist that I can email and complain to. That has really helped! I thank God for her. Don't try to do a taper without outside help (although I tapered off Tylenol 3 and Ativan on my own). It could lead to backsliding. I'm in constant pain, but I just didn't want to live addicted to opioids anymore. You weigh the pros and cons, and just make a decision to do it. Personally, I was just sick of the constant STRESS of refilling every month...so much bureaucracy now, plus the generics they force on you have horrible side effects, and I'm just done. Please let me know how you're doing, as I start on my journey of finding new ways of trying to deal with this mess of pain. I hope I'm successful...because I'm terrified.
