Norco Shortage In Michigan (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

Is anyone else having problems finding a pharmacy to fill their scripts of Norco? I have been taking them for a few years now for my chronic pain. I always go to the same pharmacy chain, and its always the same doctor who writes my scripts, but since the new law change no one seems to have them in stock. Some pharmacists told me it was a manufacturer back order. We are told not to go without our meds, but yet how is that possible if we can't get them? Anyone knows of a pharmacy that has Norco 10/325 in the metro Detroit area?

Unfortunately, when everyone starts going through withdrawal and can't stand the pain they will turn to H for relief. Our government at it's finest!!!

Totally agree, no matter what happens we need to know who is responsible and if we can't sue them in Mi. sue in Federal court. Someone must be held responsible for this pain!

Scoote1019 That may be true but because we have those who abuse something we all have to pay a price and that's not right.

Gail if you do get a reply please post this and it might be a good thing to write our congressmen with copies of their reply too. This BS has been going on for 4 months now and no one will just come out and state the plain truth. I'm at the point that I don't care what some pharmacist thinks about it one way or the other. I think some of them enjoy this new found "power" they have picking who they think should get their script filled and when. If there was a way to eliminate the "middleman" I would be all for it. They should go right to the manufactures of these products to answer the question of whether there is a shortage or not. If it turns out there is no shortage on their end then force these drug stores to explain what they are doing and at whose request. When people start committing suicide because they are tired of the hassle and pain it won't even make the last page in the media. I believe the FDA is behind this and wish they had the courage to state what their goal is in detail.

Channel 7 emailed me back saying to call and talk to one of their volunteers. But I did follow the advice of trying the outpatient pharmacy. As long as your doctor is affiliated with the hospital system they can fill it. They are getting their supply just fine because they are a hospital. I work at a LTC Pharmacy and we get our supply as well. My dr is affiliated with the St Mary's Mercy hospital so they filled my script no problem. No hassle or made to feel like a drug addict or dealer. It is bull. The government lead by Obama cares nothing for us. Like I've heard here, this is only hurting the people who really need the medication and making the actual drug dealers richer. I hope this helps. Good luck. God bless. I will keep in touch with any new info.

I think its a joke to make norco a class 2. Recently I asked my Dr.to try me on oxycotin, I hated it, got back on norco 10s quick, because of all this bs I've tried to lower the # of norcos, so I'd be ready for the pharmacy bs... I shouldn't have do this. My neck & lower back pain is never ending. Norco is the thing that always work. First they got rid of my lortab, now problems w/norco. I am thinking of switch in to opana, any replys would be appreciated. I'm all for campaigning on the fools that are doing this!

Hello all. I think that it's a good idea Beagle. I'm gonna look into what kind of a lawyer is best for this kind of complaint. I would love if we could get some kind of legal suit. Maybe the ACLU. They deal primarily with civil rights violations. I'd say this qualifies. Let me look into that. So I got white ones at the hospital. But they are not the same white ones I got at the drug store. They are working great. I don't foresee any problems for you Beagle. The hospitals are categorized differently than drug stores. So no shortage. And yes. I believe the DEA is putting limits on how much drug stores can get per month. Sidebar here but I watched that movie "Dallas Buyers Club" today. You all should watch it. It deals with how the FDA totally screwed with the people who had aids back when the whole HIV and AIDS disease first started. It is incredible how similar the situation is. And you really see how the FDA screws with peoples lives without one shred of remorse. I was blown away.

If I ever have to go to the ER for my pain and a nurse questions me I will not tell them anything. I will not sit there and explain to a nurse that I have tried other routes to fix my pain situation. I will not let a nurse make me feel "guilty" for taking my pain medication. There are ALOT of judgmental know it all nurses out there that are just plain nosey they don't give a rats ass about how you really feel or what suffering you have been going through. It is really none of their business what reasons I take my pain meds for. I would only speak directly to the ER doctor period. We are judged enough the last thing I need when I go to the ER as a last resort by the way, is to feel like I have to jump through hoops to some i**** nurse.

If pharmacies are restricted as to how much they can order for C2 drugs why was it never an issue to get all my percocets filled over the years they were always a C2 drug?

I feel your pain i have scoliosis of the spine degenerative disk disease and joint disease.there not a second that goes by that i am not in pain, thanks to the drug abusers out there i cant find my meds either, but i now realize because of the abuse the dea and the fda will find a way in the near future to band all opiates and leave us to deal with the pain and withdraws.the government doesn't care about people with chronic pain the only thing they care about is there pocket books and getting votes and champagne donations that they pocket.so if you are chronic pain suffer like i am prepare yourselfs to get off all meds because its coming.

Beagle, it is against the law for a pharmacy to give someone a prescription without a label on the bottle.

Oh, and by the way. Obviously it made the two of you SO ecstatic to jump down my s***, you haven't read my prior posts. I, in no way, said that God makes it so I don't have to take pain meds. I take 5 10/325 a day and 3 10/325 percs a day, so obviously you have missed my point entirely. I even went and made a petition to Congress about the norco issues. God gave the knowledge for pharms and scientists to make pain meds for a reason. I don't even have any other type of relief with no insurance at the time anymore either. So meds are my only pain relief. But I've lived my life like this with God, and without God, and I would never go back. I can't understand how people can be so negative about something or someone that brings so much positivity and love to someone's life. I don't pass judgement and label people and I don't tell people that what they do or don't do will permit them from getting into Heaven. But I share my story to give hope, and pray that maybe just one person will give God a chance. I'm sorry if I've upset you. Have a great night.

To make a long story short, I had been prescribed 100 mic fentanyl patches along with a break though medication when my implanted morphine pump would no longer work because it had a dead battery! The timing could not have been worse! My insurance company had just went out of business so I could not get a new pump implanted. On top of that, I was having a very difficult time getting my prescriptions filled! At Christmas time everything came to a head when I went more than a week without any of my medications because no one would fill them for me! When I told my pain specialist that I had not been able to find anyone to fill my prescriptions and therefore had not had any medication for more than a week; he told me to keep looking but to keep away from the large chain drug stores and go to the little mom and pop stores. That proved to be just as impossible! After a week without my pain medications I was in withdrawal and then the debilitating pain for which I was taking the pain medications for in the first place left me only one option; that was the emergency Room! After three visits to the Emergency room; the closest thing I got to a narcotic was Tramadol! If I was not desperate before going to ER, I sure as hell was after the lectures I received from the Emergency Room Doctors!!!

After the third trip to ER, things took a turn from awful to unimaginable! My gentleman friend said that I continually hit my head on the wall and then took off on foot! When I did not come back he called the police and they put a couple of officers out with dogs who were able to find my scent and after a few hours they found me in a barn!

I do not know much about what happened to me that night but know that I never want to come as close as I did to losing my life by my own hands!

After weeks without pain medication, I was finally able to get in to see a new pain management doctor today! I poured my heart out to a doctor I had never met before and in return he promised to never leave feeling like he was not trying to help me! What more could i ask for?

He gave me a prescription for the fentanyl patch that I had been on but at half the dose that I had been on before all this happened. He said since I have not had any medication in my system for so long that he wants to see how I do on 50 mics instead of 100. I felt so good last night that I went out to dinner for the first time in seven weeks and I slept pretty good as well!

Another thing this doctor told me was; if I had been an addict I would have gotten treatment that was denied to me because I am a pain patient in 2015!

Thank you again to everyone who sent me kind words and got me though this mess!

It is not just Norco's which people with chronic pain are having a hard time getting! Basically any medication which can be abused or can be sold on the street have become hard to get now! I do not understand this! They pushed for this national database so doctors and pharmacists would be able to see if a patient were seeing more than one doctor or trying to fill prescriptions by more than one doctor I thought it was a good idea but things have went from bad to worse when it comes to trying to get a legitimate prescription for pain medication filled! I do not know why this is happening or what the answer is to remedy it but it does not appear that anyone cares except for those of us that needs these medications for any quality of life! We are the most discriminated group in the US it now appears!

The only thing that I can think of to do is band together and make our voice heard. Hopefully we can make our lawmakers want to do the right thing if they want to keep their high paying jobs! We need to make everyone aware of what we are going though because unfortunately anyone at any time could be wearing our shoes! I do not live in a state with a medical marijuana law but these medical marijuana laws did not get passed only by those that were needing this medication. They got passed by a majority of people understanding how important this was to some people and they wanted to do the right thing by making it happen for those that needed it. I can only think that our plight is similar!

I ended up finding the 10/325 Norco at the Big Kmart pharmacy in Monroe. If anyone is looking for that, they still have some there.
