Norco Shortage In Michigan (Page 5)

Updated

Is anyone else having problems finding a pharmacy to fill their scripts of Norco? I have been taking them for a few years now for my chronic pain. I always go to the same pharmacy chain, and its always the same doctor who writes my scripts, but since the new law change no one seems to have them in stock. Some pharmacists told me it was a manufacturer back order. We are told not to go without our meds, but yet how is that possible if we can't get them? Anyone knows of a pharmacy that has Norco 10/325 in the metro Detroit area?

The only way they can hold the script is if the doc writes "do not fill til" on it

As I said before Sav On More Drugs on Walnut St. in Mt. Clemens is filling scripts for Norco 10/325....... 586-468-0597..............Got mine filled yesterday. The shipments are coming in day by day at different pharmacy's... Call Sav On More and they will take care of you.

I was on the phone with cvs today and they said they could give me 115 out of the 120 I had my script for. I said ok and a few hours later went up there and they had the entire 120. Same yellow ones I always get. It seems to me they are just trying to scare the doctors and perhaps the pharmacy's by documenting every pill they prescribe. I don't know how that would stop those who abuse them in the long run. I'm really glad I got mine today and I asked the lady behind the counter if this was going to be like this next month and she said maybe we don't know yet. The bottle of pills were identical to the last bottle I got last month word for word. Maybe they feel if they keep putting pressure on Doctors they will prescribe less but they had better learn where to draw the line. Yet again the government thinks banning something is going to cure the problem.

I'm sure they would have given it back, in fact I asked them that a few days later and they said ok but I let it go as I thought I might be in line to get the script filled because of the shortage. The gal was in a hurry when she said we'll just hang on to this until we can fill it. I hate being at the whim of the government when it comes to pain. I'm hoping we don't have to go through this again next month.

If you've been using the same pharmacy for years perhaps go there in person and don't call. I use CVS and just got mine filled yesterday. I would think if they're low in stock they would tell all who call that they are out of stock. Just a guess here on my part. I believe this week all pharmacies will start to get stock and I hope next month no one will have to go through this crap.

Went to the doc today my pain had gotten really bad, ran out of my meds having to take 2 instead of 1 and that really didn't help much either, so he gave me another script, I know my insurance won't cover it being too soon, but if I pay cash can I still get it filled if I can find a pharmacy that has them that is

The real issue is the banning of anything. This country lost the war on drugs decades ago. If everything were legal to purchase the drug addicts would die off in droves doing society a favor. When ever the government bans anything they create a black market and crime galore for those items.

I'm in the Daytona Beach area in Florida. I called all the CVS and Publix and Walgreens pharmacy's!! Keep getting stories about "changing the labels" or a "nationwide shortage"!! I need Lortab 325/10. Been taking them LEGALLY for over 10 years and now I'm in pain and treated like some junkie off the street looking for a "fix". This is SO WRONG and made worse by everyone passing accountability to the next entity. FDA? Manufacturers? Who knows?? This is a JOKE!!!

I'm glad you got yours filled and hope next month will be better for everyone who needs this drug. I had some extras so I did not have to go without. I can't imagine how much pain you had to endure. The thought of that kinda scares me.

Victoria, I know just what your saying it has been humiliating. I have been taking pain meds for 12 years since I had 2 back surgeries. I am made to feel the same as you. The Pharmacists seem to snicker under there breath, when they tell you no they cant fill. One even told me they will never be able to fill and don't bother coming back because they are on a quota ??? . this is the same pharmacy whom has been filling my script for years???? I have not had pain meds for a month now. It has seriously affected my quality of life, the pain has been mind numbing !!! I feel like the elephant man I AM NOT AN ANIMAL !!!! or drug addict !!!!!!

I contacted my pharmacy, I'm in Minnesota, and they have not had a problem getting Norco. I do know they have had to repackage due to the schedule change, but a whole month is crazy! My pharmacist does not foresee a future problem either. Now, if one wants to request a certain brand, then there may be a problem. Just thought I would tell you all what I found out today. Hope ya'all are finally having some luck!
Btw, DO NOT fill your hydrocodone with the Actavis brand if you haven't used their meds yet. The same exact problem was happening with those like what is currently going on with their oxycodone products. And, that was a year and a half ago and I haven't heard they've done anything about it even though there were tons of complaints to them and the FDA about it. I highly doubt anything is going to change with them! Just my opinion!

The reason for the change in scheduling of hydrocodone is because 1, it is the most prescribed narcotic in the US and 2, it is being abused and highly addictive! Oh, like codeine isn't highly addictive nor is abused? Right!!! A doc told me that all it is is more paperwork for him! I believe the only reason they are doing this is to make it more difficult for a physician to prescribe. As it is now, only a dr can prescribe them.....no more getting scripts from a physician assistant or nurse practitioner. They are not allowed to rx schedule 2 meds! I know many docs who believe hydrocodone should be left at a schedule 3. I believe so as well!

Hello,
My name is Matt. I am having the same issue also. I have called the FDA, the manufacturer of my norcos (WATSON), and many pharmacies in the entire metro Detroit area. So, from my understanding, it has definately been changed to a scedule 2 narcotic. However, the amount being made hasn't been limited. There was a delay in production at WATSON, and probably other manufacturers also, which is likely due to this change. The person at WATSON said that they are now up and running again and had shipped out this past monday to the distributors. The DEA doesen't seem to understand why they are not available at this point either. So, either the distributors are holding out, or someone is lying?! Either way, this sort of situation should never occur. There should be enough very well paid beurocrats and big pharma CEO's to make sure there are enough meds for those loyal patients/customers at all times, especially since abruptly stopping the supply will cause withdrawls........which must be terrible since it's a class 2 now lmao!!

The way I see it, hospitals are going to be filled with chronic pain patients in an attempt to get their pain under control! But, insurances will kick you out! Do they REALLY think by forcing people into withdrawl and keeping the meds away are going to make them say, "forget it, I'll just take a Tylenol." .????? If Tylenol was all it freaking took to relieve our pain then THAT is what we would be taking! Who the hell cares about our pain? They don't feel it! I am sick and tired of the government controlling our doctors and pharmacies! This is NOT going to end the war on drugs! Can't they see that? It is always the addicts/recreational users who find a way around everything! All we want is some semblance of quality of life and they are trying to take that away from us! I guess we are not worthy of a quality of life because we need controlled substances! Pisses me off! I, as well as all of you, did not ask for our injuries/illnesses! There has been an increase in H use among chronic pain patients for some time now due to various reasons. One of which is they have increased the cost of narcotics to try to deter abuse. And, they say it was due to supply and demand! BS!!! The supply has been larger than the demand for years! I discussed this with a pharmacist a year ago and told her as such. I also told her the cost rose at the time they were pushing for new laws....especially on oxycodone products. You could get 240 hydrocodone pills for $44 and 140 oxycodone for anywhere between $200 ans $500. How is this supply vs demand of narcotics? It's not!!!

Sorry for the rant all, it feels good to holler to someone! Lol. I am just a po'd chronic pain nurse who would rather be working than being in pain to where I don't know from one day to the next if I am going to get out of bed! And, that is impossible to do without my meds! Dependency? Probably but who the hell cares? I hurt so freaking bad that if I am dependent on narcotics, so be it! I would have to take anti rejection drugs.....be DEPENDENT on them if I had an organ transplant.....right? Ok, rant done....lol......hope you all find a suitable pain reliever till this is straightened out!

Condor......that is NOT a lie. My husband got his Norco October 16th with no problem at all and my mother got hers 6 days later, when due, with no problem. Our pharmacy, as they told me today, has not had a problem except they would have if requesting specific brands, and they don't foresee a problem when my husband gets them next month. Being from a very small town and dealing with a non-chain pharmacy may be why....idk, but the pharmacist did say they all needed repackaged. But, they do have the Norco and they do have oxycodone from Endo pharmaceuticals. You can't tell people they are lying. Maybe other pharmacies are just saying they are out because they are keeping their supply for their loved ones so they don't go through this crap! Stranger things have happened and I wouldn't put that past any pharmacy! With the number of scripts written a month, everyone knows at least one person on a narcotic!

Well, my mother and my hubby are both on 10/325. As I said, they both got them. Now, come next month, who freaking knows. The pharmacist just said they aren't having a problem and don't foresee one. Not only that, it DOES NOT matter the dose......ALL hydro products have been changed to schedule 2. Every single pill has to be pulled....well, pill, syrup, whatever hydro is in. It's not just the 10mg ones that went sched 2. I understand you are in wd's but please don't be so rude to everyone. Hey, I feel for you. I am in your boat with the crappy Actavis Percocet I take..... in wd's and all even while taking it! Many people are! Try have your dr prescribe you clonidine and Valium, klonopin, Xanax, something for the WD due to what these jerks are doing. I don't think he should have a problem doing that since this is not your fault. The benzo's help restless legs and clonidine helps the creepy crawly feeling. They do work. Anyway, just a suggestion. You can also take Imodium. Look up the Thomas Recipe for at home withdrawl. Or, ask your dr for 100mg tramadol which will help considerably! This goes for anyone going through wd's. Tramadol may be non narcotic but it works on the same receptors so it decreases immensely or completely the WD symptoms. Good luck.
