Norco 10 Post Hernia Surgery For Chronic Pain Patient Taking Oxycodone

I believe the norco is 5mgs like every 4 to 6 hours as needed. She was aware that I take the oxycodone 10 4 times a day this was added for break thru pain and to keep ahead of the pain went to get script filled she (pharmacist) informed me that she would have to call surgeon and pain doctor to clear to fill this med. I'm in unbearable pain. The pain doc already knew I had informed him that I was having surgery and wanted to let him know she may prescribe other pain meds being I'm on a contract I did not want to break he understood. Vice-versa, I told surgeon about oxycodone still pharmacy didn't wanna fill? Said they called and was closed. Although I called and they we're there any help info would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Just my own advice on my experience with post surgical pain meds and a pain contract with pain management. I had my surgeon fax over his recommendations for meds to deal with post sugical pain to my pain management doc and then she wrote the script in addition to my usual meds. That way I was only getting meds from one doctor and my pain management doc wrote "for post surgical pain" on my script so the pharmacist knew why I was getting extra pain meds. Maybe that will help you!

Have you tried telling your doctor's office of the issue yourself? They should be able to contact your pharmacy to straighten out the matter.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache.

But what does your contract state? There might be a no exceptions clause, some doctors do that.
