No Side Effects On Eliquis.

I am a 76 year old man with afib. My EP suggested Eliquis and gave me a 30 day free sample. I have used it and am on my first 90 day refill. After reading all of the comments on this web site I was reluctant to try Eliquis. As of now I have had no side effects. I am about 5' 10" and weigh 215. I spend 20 minutes on the treadmill and 30 minutes in an exercise routine daily. If I notice any adverse side effects as time goes by I will repost on this site.

Re: Newport Jim (# 4)
Newport Jim I’m very happy that you aren’t experiencing any side effects from Eliquis. I really wish no one had to suffer in this way. But l doubt that those of us who have had major complications from Eliquis and/or any other synthetic drug came to this forum hunting for symptoms. Because our own bodies supplied an ample supply of them.
I for one experienced a major reaction to Eliquis that caused an array of physical symptoms. They included odd odors, were excruciatingly painful, and were emotionally draining. They, among other things, caused sleepless nights for so many weeks that at times death would have been a welcomed relief.
I was grateful to find this forum because of feeling overwhelmed but made to believe that l was the only one on the planet with such experiences. During this ordeal I went to the emergency room three times seeking relief for various reasons. I wanted to stop taking Eliquis when l began to suspect it was the root cause of my symptoms. However, numerous warnings challenged me to continue the Eliquis because stopping it would be life-threatening.
Many family and friends didn’t understand why l was debilitated for nearly three months and spent most days in bed unable to walk or even move without pain. To add insult to injury l had to wait two months for appointments with a neuroscientist and a hematologist both of which offered few answers. My family physician and the various doctors from the ER to different specialists performed thousands of dollars worth of medical tests. But despite my expressed concerns not one would admit that Eliquis was the source of the problem.
I truly believed it was robbing me of my life and livelihood. So l finally decided to become an advocate for myself. l began to slowly wean myself off the drug which took a period of time to do. (NOTE: Because each person’s medical situation is unique to them, I don’t recommend anyone do what l did without consulting your doctor and researching what is best for their own wellness). I then turned to Naturopathic medicine to help flush my system and restore me to better health. But like anything else this may not be right for everyone. It’s best for me.
Newport Jim, there may be hundreds, even thousands of people that have never experienced adverse effects from pharmaceutical drugs. In fact, they may even experience great success with them. But neither that knowledge nor their experiences will do anything to alter the physical pain or discomfort we’ve experienced. I hope this sheds some light on the situation from another perspective. Perhaps you might understand what a challenge some of us face who are not as fortunate as folks that share your experience. Please know I appreciate you sharing your good fortune and wish you best regards.
I thought I was having a dark stool and was concerned. As it turns out a few days after I stopped eating seasonal black berries I returned to normal. So far I am still tolerating Eliquis just fine.
Another 90 days have gone by with virtually no side effects of Eliquis. Will be 77 in a few days and so far so good. I am as lazy as ever but my wife won't buy my plea that Eliquis makes me lazy. She reminded me that I was lazy 33 years ago when we got married. My EP reminded me that getting a new brain after a stroke is still not an option, so Eliquis will remain a part of my life.
After being on Eliquis for approximately 60 days I still don't feel any changes in my body. After reading all of the other posts on this subject my mind started finding imaginary "sympathy" side effects. After considering these and trying to be as realistic as possible I find that my well being has not changed at all. I still don't like Brussels sprouts, drink 4 ounces of white wine with my dinner, and have what might be considered normal aches and pains for a 76 year old man.
Hello, Newport Jim! How are you? Thank you for the helpful post!
Not everyone has problems taking Eliquis, it's just that those that day are usually the ones hunting up a site like this to discuss the problems. The millions of people that take any given medication, without a problem, are rarely online discussing their positive experiences with it.
For anyone else wanting to know about it, the FDA classifies Eliquis as an anti-clotting medication. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, weakness, muscle aches and increased risk of bleeding.
