No Period For Two Months When Should I Start?

Hi, I was on the depo shot and my doctor switched me to sprintec. It says to wait until the Sunday of my first period, however the after effects of depo shot has caused me to miss two periods. There is no chance of me being pregnant, took a test to confirm it. Can I just start taking the pills now?

Hello, Bl! How are you?

Unless your doctor has told you not to start them at any other time, you can start them now, but you should know that starting them at any other time in your cycle will not result in them being immediately effective at preventing pregnancy. Thus, you'll need to use a backup form of contraception for the first 7 days of being on it.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS like symptoms.

Is there anything else I can help with?
