Nitrofurantoin Given To Me At 34 Weeks 5 Days Pregnant

Hi I'm 34 weeks and 5 days pregnant, I took one dose of this medicine this far for a UTI and I've never heard of this medicine before. Is this safe to take for my baby? I am supposed to take this 2x a day for 5 days, I received the medicine today and took one pill thus far, I get nervous about what I'm putting into my body; this was prescribed to me by my OB/GYN but I didn't know that there were restrictions in regards to pregnant women taking this medicine.

There have no reports or evidence of risk to the baby, if used during pregnancy, but like any other medication, it should only be used if really necessary and shouldn't be used past 38 weeks.

When you have an infection, you have to understand that the risks associated with it to your baby are far greater than the risks associated with treating it.
