Can nitrofur- macr 100mg treat strep throat ? What ages do they prescribe this to?

There is no set age limit for this antibiotic, though it is generally avoided in those over age 65, since it may cause them more problematic side effects.

However, it may not be appropriate to treat strep, that sometimes requires different antibiotics. This one is most commonly used to treat UTIs.

The FDA lists the typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
