Nitrofur Macr / Hurts When I Pee

I been taking it for 2 days now and it is working. I have no discolor to my urine at all. The only thing is it still hurts when I pee. I don't know if thats just a side effect or not of it healing my infection or what?

This is an antibiotic and 2 days is not really enough time to know whether or not it is clearing up your infection.

The pain when urinating is normal with a UTI and should improve in a few more days, if it doesn't, then you should contact your doctor.

Normal side effects to this medication may include: nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and skin rash.

That's normal, the infection isn't going to noticeably go away after only a couple of days. Give it time. And remember to TAKE ALL THE PILLS you were prescribed!!! Every last one.
Otherwise the infection will just come back, growing from the traces of the bacteria that were never killed by the antibiotic. Then you'll have to get another prescrip.
Resistance to antibiotics is not a good thing.

I currently have a UTI infection. I went to the doc yesterday and he prescribed me 2 types of medication. 1 is the Nitrofur-Macr, which is an antibotic. The other medication is called Phenazopyridine, and it is suppose to help with the burning. So far I feel better now. Brand New. Anyway, hope that helps you. I will continue to take the medication until the prescription is out. Just in case, can't be too thorough. :)

there is also an over the counter pill to help the burning, and I usually take it for a couple days then the antibiotic kicks in by then and the burning stops. but keep taking the antibiotic all the way till the end!
