Nitrofur-macr And Methadone Interactions

Hi. I've just been prescribed Nitrofur-Macr 100mg for a persistant bladder/Urinary tract infection which has been making me sick to my stomach. I'm worried about what the side effects are, especially when mixing it with methadone. Just want to know if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks.

Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between Nitrofur-Macro and Methadone. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate.

With that said, because I am not a doctor, the most I can tell you is that from what I've read, these two medications are regarded as being safe to take together and shouldn't present any problems outside of the normal side effects associated with each medication.

There is however an interaction between methadone and grapefruit juice stating that coadministration with grapefruit juice may increase the plasma concentrations of methadone.

I didn't find any interactions or problems listed between the two.

The Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic, so it can cause its own side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

Serious stomach issues like nausea, some vomiting (yes I'm taking with food) but also like this major gas

I hope your issues were resolved. That doesn't sound good. ?? I would have immediately told the Dr about that bubble symptom. That could have been really bad bloating. You can definitely take Pepto with methadone. Anytime you have questions about what you can and can't take with methadone, type in 'methadone,' and the name of the other drug, and then 'drug interaction check' on Google. There are sites where you can type in each name of the drug, and it will automatically pull up any interactions between drugs. I've seen Drs use it before in front of me in their office.
