Can I eat dairy products while taking this medication for a UTI?

Hi Mari,

While there are certain antibiotics that cannot be taken with dairy; dairy products are not listed as a food/drug interaction with Macrobid (nitrofurantoin); so in this case there is no need to worry.

The reason why some antibiotics cannot be taken with dairy is because some of the minerals in these products can bind to the antibiotic, making it less effective.
